Sit N Stand Stroller - Mesa,AZ

Hi V.! My kiddos are 3 years 2 months apart and I decided to try out not having a double stroller as getting one just seemed like a huge hassle to me. They are sooo huge! If I were to get one the Joovy Caboose has a "light" one, it's weight and length are the smallest I've ever seen. However, it was about $100 more expansive than the Baby Trend Sit-N-Stand. If you are not totally set on getting one I'd wait it out and try. My son is now 5.5 months old and I am totally happy with not having one. And no, my daughter is not perfect by any means, but I think she likes that she's the older one and can walk and have more responsibility. We've had a couple tough times, but not any that make me want to spend even $130 on a stroller!

LOVE my sit & stand! I bought the sit & stand plus (it comes with an extra fabric seat to turn the stroller into a regualr tandem stroller... my 2 kids are only 20 months apart, so my oldest wasn't ready for the sit & stand part right away). My daugther is now 2 and a half and uses the sit & stand part. We love love love my stroller. easy to manuever, folds up small for a double, not too heavy. Other sit & stand style stoller that have gotten good reviews are the Joovy Caboose (not sure how newborn friendly that one is, but my neighbor got it and loves it... its almost as small as an umbrella stroller) and you might also look into getting a buggy board (I think thats what they're called...) to attach to your current stroller.

My boys are almost exactly 3 yrs. apart and the sit and stand I got didn't work for us at all! I got the sit and stand XL by baby trend ( I think that's what it was called) It was a sit and stand but could also be turned into a reg. dbl stroller so the back could still be a reg. stroller seat for my oldest. It also had the car seat attachment for the baby carrier. Sounds great, but I had several issues with it. It was so big and cumbersome that I had a hard time using it. My oldest is pretty tiny for his age and he barely fit in the back part. The front part was also really small for the baby once he started sitting up. When I used the sit and stand part my oldest was constantly getting on and off it and it drove me crazy! He was pretty happy just walking if the option of the stroller wasn't there. One of the things that might work for you in the beg. is to use the reg. stroller for your oldest and put the baby in a front carrier like a Bjorn or Snuggli. Another thing I tried was something like a sit and stand that you could attach to a reg. stroller. I think it was called a buggy board or something like that. The only problem with the one I got is that I kept banging my shins on it. They make a kind that is only for standing on and I think that would've worked better. Any of these things might work better for you, but I didn't have very good experiences with them. My best advice is to really try them all out if you can before you buy them. I would also do it after the baby is here. When I pushed the dbl. stroller around with just my oldest in it and worked great. Then when the baby came and I had my oldest, the baby and the car seat on it all at once it was horrible! Good luck!

PS. Another option that might work for you when your oldest really needs a stroller is stroller connectors. I haven't tried it yet, but will be giving it a try soon. I'm getting ready to watch a newborn and my youngest is only 20mos. I have two of the MacClaren (?SP) basic umbrella type strollers (best small strollers ever!) and the mom that I will be babysitting for just bought me some stroller connectors (found them at Babie's R Us made by Prince Lionheart). I will be putting the baby in front carrier for now and my youngest in the stroller. But when the baby is old enough to sit comfortably in an umbrella stroller I will be trying the stroller connectors when we go anywhere we need a stroller.

I agree with the sling/carrier option. My oldest two are 3 years apart, and I was considering the sit n stand. I put it off until my baby was ready for a stroller, and found that I didn't need one for my older child. She wanted to walk all the time, and even told me that she felt like a baby riding in the stroller. Congratulations on your upcoming new addition!

My two girls are 28 months apart we have the Joovy Ultra light caboose. I love it now that they are 9 months and 3. Hated it when the youngest was in her infant seat. Pros: light weight, small and compact, easy to push and steer one handed, fits great in the trunk of an accord (most do not)
cons: the front seat does not recline all the way so even if the 3 year old is walking the 9 month old cannot lay all the way down for naps, the front seat must recline when the infant carrier is in and then the back of the seat hits the older child in the back if they chose to sit. The older child wants to climb on and off all the time.

In the end I used my single stroller for the older child and the Ergo baby carrier for the infant until she was 6 months and sitting up on her own. Now we only use the Joovy and everyone is happy! Hope this helps.

An inexpensive option is to simply have your son go into whatever stroller you use now and use a sling or a Bjorn for your newborn. By the time you are ready to put the newborn into the regular stroller your son will probably be ready to walk nearly all the time. My son will be 4 in early April and only goes in a stroller for occasions like the airport, Disney, etc. He doesn't go into a stroller for the usual everyday sort of things like grocery, mall, daily chores. I LOVE my sit and stand!! My oldest walked on her own, but I had two 3 1/2 year olds and a new born when we got our sit and stand. The baby would go in front in his car seat and I would have one of the the kids sit facing the front of the stroller on the seat (with their feet inside the basket area) while the other one stood on the platform when we cruised the mall, park or where ever. It can be pushed one handed and turns great! I love that I could have a free had to hold my phone or take a drink of water and still be able to stear the stroller. Plus now that our son is two and the big kids walk on their own I have the seat to put all my shopping bags or the cooler with water when we go to the zoo or park.

I have a 3 1/2 year old and a 12 weeks old and i have the Sit'n'Stand Stroller that comes with the stand up and seat option for my 3 year old and has the capability to attacht he infant car seat to the front for my 12 week old. When he is older he can then sit in the front as a seat with a food tray that detaches. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It makes my life so easy and I can go to the zoo and for long neighborhood walks or to the mall without my 3 1/2 year old getting tired in the middle of the occassion. Mine cost $125.00 at Babies'R'Us after I used a 15% off coupon.
