Simulac Recall

My boys were on Simulac Sensitive and I found out this morning that the formula has been recalled and this explains why they haven't been eating as well over the last two weeks and have been waking up at night with tummy aches. We moved to the liquid formula version...hopefully that will help as it isn't recalled. Is anyone else having these issues?

Yes, my son also has not been eating. We thought it was b/c he was getting another tooth (he continued to eat when he was getting his other teeth so we found it strange). I had to run to CVS at 11 last night to get liquid when I found out ours was affected.

I have a child in my care on Similac Sensitive. He has not had any trouble eating or tummy issues recently. Since hearing about the recall. I checked out the lot numbers on my cans and all my cans were on the recall list. I took the recalled cans back to Kroger in Flower Mound where I purchased them. They immediately gave me a refund for them. They didn't even look at my receipt. I asked the manager what the status was in that store. He assured me that the recalled cans had been removed from the shelves, and all the recalled lot numbers had been programed into their register software. If, by chance a recalled item was found in the store and I tried to purchase it there would be a notice on the register that the product could not be purchased. I purchased two cans that I found on their shelves. When I brought them home I went to the Similac site and double checked that the cans I bought were not recalled. Sure enough, they were NOT.
They (Kroger at Flower Mound, FM 3040) have many cans of the powder Similac Sensitive that are NOT on the recall list.
If your child did not have any tummy issues before the recall while using Similac Sensitive I would not change formulas. I am quite certain the laboratory creating Similac has done everything they can to remove the affected formula from the public. With heightened scrutiny now I am certain that the Similac formula is certainly safe. Or at least as safe as any other formula you will find in the stores.

My son had a cold last week and was very anti-formula. He just wanted to eat baby food. We thought that it was because he was all stuffy from his cold... but since then he's gotten better, but still isn't too interested in the formula. This morning we found out about the Similac recall and sure enough, all 3 containers of formula that we have are included in the recall. I don't know if he's starting to wean himself off the formula on his own or if what he's doing is a result of the formula being effected.
Regardless, the recall is a little disturbing in my opinion. It's one thing for something like this to happen to food that an older person would consume... if something is 'not right' at least they'd be able to tell you... when it's an infant/child product... it's hard for them to tell you something is wrong!
My husband went on the Similac website when he was trying to determine if ours was recalled - and it says that it will take 3 days for us to receive "return kits" for the formula we have -- and then another 4-6 weeks to receive replacements for the recalled product...
