I recently bought 2 cases of Similac Advance ready made formula and left it in my car overnight. It was a cold night, 38 degrees to be exact. Is the formula still good? Can it still be used? I'd rather be out $70 bucks than do any harm to my son,
Hi M.. As long as the bottles haven't been opened, they doon't need to be refrigerated. Notice when you go to a supermarket, the ready-to-feed Similac is located in the baby aisle and not in the refrigerated section. This means it doesn't need to be refrigerated for storage if not opened. Once you open a bottle, then you must refrigerate it. Also, 38 degrees is above freezing, so you should be fine.
I am thinking this is no colder than an average fridge. I would say it is fine!
should be fine, did not freeze. wearhouses are cold as well. call the company and ask. their number should be on the cans.
If you are concerned call the company. They should be fine, they are ok if they go through 1 freeze cylce as well, not that yours did, but good to know for the future. If you ever had a doubt and you opened the formula and it was off looking or smelled funny I wouldn't use it, but it sounds as if yours will be fine.
It's fine. My grandson works in a warehouse for a local store that sells baby formula. It's not heated. If it's 38 degrees outside, it's 38 degrees in the warehouse. They usually stock several weeks of formula at a time and it sits in that warehouse the whole time. Oh, and the truck that brings it to the warehouse is not heated either and it takes several days to get it from the bottling plant.

What another mom answered about storage conditions in the warehouse is true. I worked for a drug manufacturer and warehouses, trucks and UPS do not have special temperature controls for products stored at room temperature. Deliveries are made year around including winter.
I use Pediasure for my child, stored sealed at room temperature, and refrigerate it after opening it. The temperature of the car (38 F) is the same as a refrigerator and I'm pretty sure it is OK. On the other hand, if the temperature was above room temperature (more than 76F, like a hot car) for a prolonged period most medications would start breaking down and then it wouldn't be OK.
But I understand your concern, to be safe call Similac and ask.
It's just fine! When you open the bottles you have to. Put them in da fridge which is even colder. I've left them in my van in colder weather and they've been fine!
M., if the formula is not stored in the fridge at the store, then it should be absolutely fine.
If it says to store at room temperature (I think it does, we use this occasionally too)anything above freezing and below about 80 degrees should be fine. Cooler is probably better anyway.
It will be fine, especially if it was unopened. It does not need to be refridgerated until after opening. And even so, it was not warm in your car. I am very paranoid about these things but in this case I would use the formula.
