My daughter Adalyn is almost 17 mos ols on march 10 adalyn had her shots. A week later on st. pats day I took her to the parade ahe acreamed for 2 hours. I knew something was wrong I noticed she was only watching the parade from one direction she wasnt turning her head. The next morning we gokt up and adalyns head was tilted to the left her whole body she couldnt walk straight its like it was throwing her balance off. I took her cor childrens hosp they ran several test sedated her ran cat scans found nothing.
Which is great but that doesnt answer our questions. Today a day since she went to the er adalyns still the same not herself. Im just wondering if anyone has ever heard of a such thing.
I took Adalyn to her pediatrician today and she ruled out the shots, but why wouldnt they. I explained to her that adalyn was having problems getting up if she was lying on her back. The doctor checked and said shes using all her muscles and thats a good thing. So basicly give her motrin and give her a few days and she would be fine. Her ears were fine, she said at childrens hospital they checked everything that could possibly be wrong just give her time. So yes I finally got an answer but I still dont feel comfortable with it,I know everyone gets a muscle spasm and yes it hurts and a child cannot tell you that. But would it throw her balance off ?Today adalyn and I were in the car and she got sick again not as bad. Is she getting car sick dont know but she never has before so its a little odd. I'm going to continue to do research. I want to thank all of you for your answers they were very helpful .

Don't get her anymore shots! Please do alot of research on shots before you get them. Once you get them and your kid gets a "vaccine injury" there may be no turning back. If you find out that it is just something else, then that's great. But if she is unjured from the shot, your doctor will tell you that it's not from the shot.
If it were my child I would keep careful notes of the symptoms until you discern what the problem is, if any.

The same thing happened to my son back in 1994. The same day we returned from getting his immunizations he began screaming for hours until he collapsed from exhaustion into a deep sleep. He would awake and begin screaming again. This was different than colic which we had experienced with our first child. It continued throughout the day. The nurse for the pediatrician said "It couldn't be the shots". What doctor WOULD ever suggest that the very shot they gave your child could have possibly hurt your child? Can anyone spell l-i-a-b-i-l-i-t-y? After 6 days of this - we noticed the same symptom you described. He seemed to only be turning his head toward one side and avoided turning it in the other direction. We noticed when putting him in his car seat that he would cry out when we would bend his head forward to put him under the straps. He stopped rolling over - which we had videotaped previously - and holding his head up became more difficult. He dragged his left leg behind. Eventually after taking him to a neurologist, he was found to have hypotonia (low muscle tone) and a weakness on the left side of his body. How could a child who was developing normally suddenly develop this kind of problem out of the blue and it NOT be related to the immunizations? My doctor did not report the reaction because it put him at risk for a lawsuit by admitting there was a reaction to the vaccine. The neurologist did not report the incident. How many doctors want to be called in to testify as a witness against the very doctor who referred them the patient? These doctors are in a very difficult position. They are under a lot of pressure by the licensing board and the health insurance companies with whom they hold contracts to vaccinate. How many reactions go unreported and are instead given a "garbage can" diagnosis of cerebral palsy due to avoiding a lawsuit? If this is of any consolation - my son went through 4 years of physical therapy (you can do this at home yourself if need be - the idea is to keep working the muscles so the brain and nerves keep connecting and developing new neuropathways to replace the damaged ones). The younger the child is with an event like this, the much better is the likelihood the brain will recover from the injury. My son remained somewhat delayed with physical activities (began riding a 2 wheeler bike at 9) - but eventually caught up. It didn't touch his brain intellectually. He's 16 and is a gifted student. He has no outward symptoms that there was ever any damage. He looks completely normal. He did and still does have some issues with hypersensitivity to touch and noise. From age 5-12 his left ear would swell horribly whenever he had a knit cap over it, the sun was shining on it while riding in the car, or when sleeping on that side in the car. The mayo clinic website said it was a symptom related to hemi-paralysis and hypotonia. It eventually went away on its own. Go with your gut instinct. No one knows your child more than you do. I will keep you in my prayers. So sorry you are going through this.

One other thing I would add - My sister-in-law's child had problems walking straight after her MMR. The dizziness in the car sounds balance related as well. I know some children have had damage to the ear after their immunizations (ie Miss America a few years back) which could account for the problems with her equilibrium. My sister-in-law's child suffered no long term effects with her walking or equilibrium or hearing. The symptoms eventually went away - but her mom stopped vaccinating her daughter after that incident. You can always delay the immunizations.
It could DEFINITELY be a reaction to the shots.

I would find a naturalpath doc and see what they recomend to get those toxins out of her system. You could also try a chiropractor for some help.
The fact that you are making a correlation between her symptoms and the vaccination tells me that you should do some research. Look up what vaccinations she received and the possible side effects. There are many books and websites about vaccinations. Vaccinations contain many other ingredients, such as mercury. You can never be sure how your child reacts to all the stuff that is in a vaccine. Educate yourself and know what may be happening to your child. You cannot blindly trust mainstream medicine. That is my experience.
I've seen kids get spooked at parades especially if the drums in the bands are loud. Some kids really hate the sound of bag pipes, too. A middle ear infection can cause balance problems. I'd call your Dr's office and see what they have to say.
My initial thought is inner ear infection. Those are the same symptoms I would have when I had an ear infection as a tot- and I had ALOT. Every 2 weeks to be exact! I personally think that it sounds a little late for a vaccine reaction, but I haven't done as much research as some.
It could also be a kink in her neck. I wouldn't let it go though. If it makes you feel a tiny bit better, my little guy (when he was the same age) suddenly started limping and did so for over a week. There was no swelling, sign of trauma, or splinters at all. Finally, went to the doc and he said that sometimes kids will do something and it hurts, so they quit doing it for a period of time. For my son it was putting his foot down completely, for your daughter it may be turning her neck. Hope you get to the bottom of it.
What shots?? I have heard of reactions to shots nothing like this take her back to the doctor and explain what you are seeing.. Keep an eye on this because could be a sign something is coming to a head..
Keep asking the doctors questions because your child did not react this way for no reason something is wrong. Almost sounds like a stroke(God forbid). All I can say is keep poking them for answers.

I agree that it seems unlikely for it to be a vaccine reaction a week later. Obviously something is up, and I also agree that you should have her ears looked at. My daughter had an ear infection that made her super weird, sort of loopy like, and she showed no other symptoms, so I never would have thought of an ear infection, but that's exactly what it was. BUT...I'm assuming they probably would have looked into her ears and mouth at the ER and would have spotted an infection, so I would say it's more likely that she had a kink her neck and was just so uncomfortable. Only being 17 months, she really can't communicate to you what's wrong or what hurts, so if she's still "not herself" then take her into the pediatrician's office. Good luck! It's scary and frustrating when you don't know how to help them! Just know that in another year or so it will so much easier to know what they need and want!
My kids and I had reactions to vaccines but they were immediate and the symptoms were different. I had severe chest pain and couldn't breathe and my arm wouldn't work for about 12 hours where I got the shot. My kids would scream unconsolable and be unresponsive for several hours after. I've heard of kids having trouble walking etc. after vaccines but it seems like it was sooner. However, with food allergies, the effects can be delayed for 3 days to 2 weeks. I'm not sure if vaccines are similiar. I got a lot of helpful information including ingredients from KnowVaccines.com. They used to have the side effects listed with the ingredients too. Did she have a recent fall? Or any other bump that may have seemed not that bad at the time? Just trying to think of what else might have happened. Agree with many of the other posters - be insistent w/ your ped and don't let up until you are satisfied.

Did they check to see if she has an ear infection?If there is fluid in her middle ear it will cause unbalance unsteady walk dizziness & she may not be able to hear that well it'll sound muffled.What did the ER say in regards to her immunizations?Call her Dr. maybe you can get her seen tomorrow some offices are open for a few hrs on the weekend.

I am thinking it might be an ear infection or even stiff neck muscles. If it was from the shot I would think it would have happened sooner. Id take her to the dr again and have them check her ears and her neck muscles too.
She may still be woozy from the sedation. At 17 months, the parade may have been overwhelming for her, which could be the cause for the screaming - not sure I would have kept her there for two hours if she was that unhappy...
But something is obviously up and I would check back in with the pediatrician. Before you call, make a list of her symptoms so that you don't get distracted during the conversation. Don't hesistate to ask your doctor if you can bring her back in and don't be intimidated by your doctor.
Mom's know when something isn't right and you are so good to follow your instincts. Stay on the trail until your gut tells you she's back to herself. If you have time, please let us know what happened. Good luck.
An inner ear infection can cause her to tilt her head as she is trying to figure out how to make it stop. It would also make her not like all the noise from a parade. She would not be able to walk straight if the infection is really bad. Another problem could be her eardrum. I would say take her to an ear specialist! See if they can help you out. You didn't mention if she has any fever or any other problems going on.
I didnt read all the responces and am not sure where you live but viral menengitis is going aroung in town i dont want to scare you but dont want u to let ur drs overlook the posibilty either, my daughter had it at 3 weeks
I don't know if someone suggested this, but you may want to get her eyes checked by a pediatric optomologist. It could be the muscles in her eyes which is causing her to strain her neck to see things and causing the car sickness. A friend of our's son is going thru this and they are in the process of seeking help. His problem causes him to have car sickness too. Good luck and God Bless.
I'm so sorry! I would guess (total guess here) it could have something to do with her inner ear and balance. An ENT might have a better answer on that. At this time of year, outdoor allergies get started as well as the crazy sinus pressure stuff that's been going around. I hope she's fine!!
I would check and make sure her eyes move well (have her follow a flashlight beam or something else she can keep her eyes on)....ask her doctor to check her reflexes, also. If she isn't better and seems to get worse, she needs to be checked for GBS, miller-fischer variant. This is often self-limiting, and I don't like to give advice over any type of internet...BEST advice--make sure her regular doctor checks her over in f/u from your er visit!

i've read A LOT on vaccines. not saying the vaccine was definitely the cause of this but it does sounds like so many other stories out there. i know a week after receiving a vaccine is not too long to consider the vaccine as the culprit..2 weeks isn't too long. something has been injected into the body...it's not like it's going to be out of the system within a day or two...once it's there it's there. it may have taken this long for you to see the visible effects. Just be proactive...get her into a dr asap who will guide you in what to do and not just brush you off. Hopefully someone on here can throw you a name. praying for strength for you and recovery for your daughter.
