I'll echo Stride Rite at CO Mills. They're the same Stride Rites as sold at Nordstroms, etc but they're almost always less than $25. All leather and very well made. That or try a pair of crocs.
Does anyone know of a great place to get well-made sturdy athletic shoes that #1 will not break dwon and fall apart and #2 don't cost a fortune? My seven-year-old wears his sneakers nearly EVERY day and the shoes we've had in the past just don't measure up. Thanks!
I did go to the Stride Rite @ Colorado Mills - bought $40 shoes HALF-PRICE! Thanks for the tips!

The Nordstrom Rack has some good stuff, European brands at a fair price. Ecco, Geox, Primigi, Umi and Naturino are all good. Or if you want to splurge Nordstrom is good, they usually have a sale in November, it may be more expensive but if you have to buy a new pair of less expensive shoes more often than it ends up being the same! Plus those character shoes are not that cheap(say $15-20) but cheaply made! Good luck!
I have a 7 year old boy and he too goes through his shoes like crazy. I have tried buying expensive shoes but he goes through them just a quick. What I do now is buy him 3 or 4 pairs. That way he is not wearing them every day and they do not wear out as fast. He always picks his favorite pair and wears them the most but when he destroys them he has a couple of other pairs to wear. I have decided that boys are just harder on their clothes, my daughter grows out of her things before she wears them out and my son wears them out before he grows out of them. I have tried Sketchers and Nikes and other brands they do not last longer they just cost more. Boys will be boys.
Hi we have had great luck at the Stride Right outlet in Colorado Mills. Very good sturdy shoes that run about $25.00 a pair.
