M.S.
When i was little, i had the same problem with my feet. My mom said that when she would put shoes on me, i would ball up my toes and this would make any shoe uncomfortable. Honestly, it may not be the shoes..........
Where can I go or how do I get help fitting my daughter in shoes correctly? She is 6 years old and It seems like she fits in anywhere from 11 to 11 1/2 to 12 in different shoes but no matter what size and how well I think they fit her she always has a blister somewhere on her foot from the shoes!? Maybe there's something with the proportions of her foot? Maybe she's wide, narrow, I don't know. They look normal to me.

Stride Rite! they were awesome in fitting my double wide shoe son :)
Most shoe stores will measure your child's foot, but that usually isn't the problem because all shoes run differently. More likely, it's the type of shoe you are buying. Look for ample padding at the heel, not a straight back...and the need to be wide enough near the ball of the foot and the toes. Many shoes are narrow, and unless your child is very skinny, she probably doesn't have that narrow a foot. I have my daughter try shoes on and go from there...do they slip on the heel? Are they wide enough at the sides? You should be able to pinch just a little of the shoe at the side near the ball of her foot...they shouldn't rub. Does she have enough room at the toe? Etc.
Also, the material a shoe is made out of makes a huge difference. Canvas shoes are very likely to blister, especially at the heel. I prefer to buy my children only leather shoes with ample padding inside, and I have never had a problem with blisters. For tennis shoes, I usually buy DK, Etnies, or Vans...some sort of "skater" sneaker that really has a lot of padding inside. I think it's worth it, once they aren't growing so fast, to spend 50 or 60 dollars on a good pair of shoes.
I would try striderite or JCP. Both will measure your daughter's feet and I have never had a problem with either one.
Nordstroms or Stride Rite. I prefer Nordstroms though b/c of their excellent customer service.
I'm thinking the type of shoes as well.
I'm flat footed and have a wider ball than heel. Sketchers, Doc Martins, or New Balance are basically all I can wear. I don't do dress shoes unless I absolutely have to. For 'cheapie' work in the yard shoes (play shoes in your dd's case), I go into the boys section of Kmart for shoes. LOVE running shoes for daily wear.
Hello! I know that they measure kid's shoe size at Stride Rite. My daughter has the same issue, though. It depends on the style sometimes for the size. If it is a tennis shoe, a 12 is great, but a slip on needs to be a bit smaller! Frustrating! Good luck!
As noted below, get her measured professionally. Have her walk around the store to see if they feel comfortable.
Then take the shoes home and wear them around the house for a while (like every night for a few nights - several hours of wear). If there's a question, and you can do it, have her bring home a couple of pairs to test. As long as you don't go outside you can return them.
I have this problem too. Shoe makers have their own ideas as to sizes. They do not follow the same pattern when it comes to sizes. I wear anything from a 3-6 1/2.
There are carpets in the shoe stores that she could place her foot on to check, but ultimately it's trial and error.
Go to a good old fashioned shoe store and have her measured correctly
and tell them of your problem. I would say a Stride Rite store, but they
have very young people measuring, who really do not know about kids feet.
You need someone who has been doing it for a long time. You may have
to travel a bit, but certainly worth it.
