Lol, now that made me smile. Just remembering those days and marveling at the changes, sometimes freaking out too! Anyhoo, I just worked around my belly and didn't have any trouble!
Congratulations!
I am only in my first trimester, but I have already started wondering how I will shave the bikini line when my stomach gets bigger....what did others do? Is there a way to work around the stomach, or did you get waxed at the spa or just let your hair grow out?
Lex - it means Dear Step Son and Dear Step Daughter. DH is Dear Husband.
Thanks for all the awesome responses! Good to know there are various methods...I am kind of chicken and embarrassed to get pro-waxed...but I may try the mirror thing....but luckily it won't be for a while. I love the story about the nurses being impressed and shaving after the water broke...haha. That's awesome....and will probably be me. :)

If you really feel like you HAVE to (which a lot of prego mom's don't) then you could always shave in front of the mirror.
oooh i wish i was as brave as anne!! seriously! :)
im soooo scared of waxing, but i think thats the best way to go... but just in case youre a total girl like me, i managed to shave, kind worked around the belly. towards the end i think i needed a mirror to get some spots, but it worked. where theres a will, theres a way. or if you and your husband are adventurous, have him shave you... it can be very sensual, and naturally lead to a little playtime for mom and dad ;) im pregnant with my 3rd, and plan on shaving... i mean, its summer... gotta look good in that bathing suit!!
Personally I'm terrified of waxing (I've heard it's much more painful when pregnant) but way to vane to let myself grow out. So, I tried to see down there for as long as I could, after a while I probably looked pretty funny. I would actually try to lift my belly a little to see one side, then the other. Then I got smart and bought a little hand mirror to use in the shower! It's much easier if you sit down, either on the edge of the tub or in a shower chair.
Another thought, you could ask your husband to help!
I continued shaving throughout my pregnancy. I considered getting waxes as my due date neared, but I was too chicken. I just kind of did it blindly and carefully. In fact, my water broke at home and I showered and shaved before heading to the hospital! The nurse who helped with my delivery was impressed! :-)
luckily i was big during the winter months. i just eventually gave up and let is grow. it was actually quite liberating not to have to worry about it for a few months - i figured it would be the only time in my life when it just wouldn't matter - my hubby even said "who cares!" lol
I could manage my legs while sitting on the floor of the shower, but to do a good job on the bikini line (I was also pregnant in the summer), I had my husband help a little.
When I was pregnant the first time I used Nair for my bikini line and when my belly got too big for me to see well my husband would help me apply it. Shaving was not an option as the belly grew. I know people who have done the bikini wax at the spa and apparently it's very painful when you're pregnant. Your blood vessels are nearer to the surface and you tend me to be more sensitive. Good Luck.
It's so funny, I spoke with another pregnant mom about this several months ago, and then low and behold I got to the point where I couldn't see my "hoo-hah" anymore (at now 7 months pregnant), lol! I lean around and work around my belly the best way possible, and I also have a mirror. Like previous posters have stated, then I mentioned it to my son's father, and he said that he'd be more than happy to assist in that area ;-P
I waxed. You can't even REACH your bikini area as you get bigger! Time your last appointment right before the baby because you won't have time or energy to shave for about 1o weeks after! Good luck!
Last year around this time I was six months pregnant and could no longer see around my belly to shave, so I went for a professional bikini wax. No one had forwarned me that it would hurt more when pregnant, so it came as a bit of a shock. Yes, it hurt like hell, but it was over quickly and it was worth it because then I didn't have to think about it for the rest of the summer. Come on, we endure childbirth (even with the epidural, which was the most painful part!), we can take a little waxing. And you can leave your underwear on, so there's nothing to be embarrassed about.
Can someone tell me what DSS and DSD means?? I'm slow-- I haven't picked that up yet. Oh Hi K. :) I would say continue to shave until you can do it no longer... and my guess is that by that time... you won't care too much about it anymore... But if you do, you can always go pay to have it done. My advice though, don't worry about it... You can hop right back on the shaving band wagon after your little baby is born. Be blessed!!
I waxed about two weeks before my due date, and I was pleased with the results. Believe it or not, I actually had my husband do it, since I couldn't see or maneuver to do it myself.
you can shave by feel, use a mirror, nair OR have your hubby shave you. growing it out is just fine too.
WAX....WAX...WAX...
I had everything waxed... everything
I still wax my legs, arm pits, bikini, and arms. I love the soft feeling after it's done. And the more you wax the less hair grows back and the less it hurts. I stopped shaving years ago when a friend got a life threating staph infection from shaving in the shower. She would leave the razor in the shower. With all the moisture some nasty stuff grew on it. She nicked herself shaving. Three days later she is in the hospital fighting for her life. I threw out my razor and haven't shaved in 5 years.
waxing is the best way and the reason is, the less you can see the more risk of ingrown hairs, which can cause infection if you're not careful. You also increase risk of nicks and that just hurts. You can always just let it grow, but I couldn't handle that. One warning, after I started waxing during my pregnancy I liked it so much more, I kept doing it!! Congrats on the baby!! I felt like adding some more info based on other responses...I didn't think waxing hurt significantly more during my pregnancies, but the first couple of time you go (pregnant or not) it hurts more.
I just used my other hand the help guide where the razor needed to be. Or, stand in front of a mirror. I started using the new Soleil Bella razor that has four blades and it makes shaving really easy. You should try one...you won't have to go over the same spot twice.
You just have to do it by feel or look in the mirror. I am 9 months pregnant and it is very hard.
