Shaving - Plainfield,IL

In the past my daughter has used Nair for hair removal on her lower legs and armpits. It works fine but is kinda messy and she really hates the smell. However, she is terrified of using a razor as she is afraid of cutting herself. I know when I started shaving, I used an electric razor. Do they even still make them for women? I have looked a little & haven't been able to find any. If not, do any of you know of any razors made for girls or that may be less likely to cause cuts? With summer coming, I am trying to find a better alternative for her. Thanks & Happy Easter!

What can I do next?

I have used a men's triple head razor for probably 15 years. It is great!!!! No more cuts and the triple heads glide easily over the knees. No need to get a women's shaver.

Walgreens has a nice remington model. I saw someone suggested that cloth or whatever that is on tv...a friend tried it and it can be painful...

Venus is a wonderful razor. Instead of buying the shaving cream use conditioner(you can buy the cheapest) its cheaper, easier, leaves your legs smoother and lasts a lot longer.

My daughter used to wax. I tried but could not do it. It lasts for a longer time. I have seen some razors that are not supposed to cut as easily beside the other razors in the shaving aisle.

The best thing is waxing, i know its a little more painful but my mam suggested i use it when i was younger and the hair does become finer and doesnt grow back as quickly and your daughter is young so her hair wont be very thick anyway which is what makes it sore. The strips work fine id recommend them. the warm wax in a pot slightly better but a lil bit messy. make a night of it. You and your daughter, paint your nails watch a girly flick etc. Only way to go if you ask me :)

I use an electric shaver... the kind for men... I don't know what the difference is anyway. Just marketing. The 'women' shavers don't work as well. I had one when I was a teenager.
But I got my electric shaver from Costco. Its the Norelco brand. And yes, Braun is a good brand too.
Works just fine. And I have thick hair.
But once in awhile to really get it shaved well, I use a razor.
If you go to your local drugstore, they have razors just for women.
Its usually pink or something.

All the best,
Susan

There is a product called Flicker, if anyone remembers. It's still out there. It is very gentle and you on need water, although I would use some kind of cream to shave with. You can use hair conditioner. It works great. When my daughter started shaving that is what I started her with until she got used to it and then I guided to using a more adult shaver.

The Sally Henson brand is really good as far as hair removal. I think she might be disappointed in a razor after using Nair.

I really like the Intuition razor. It has a block of moisturizing stuff (looks like soap) around the blades, and it kind of lubes up your skin as you shave. They sell it at any store. I am sure that they still sell electric ones though, I would try Amazon.com.

Yes my answer is the same. You can pick up an electric Razor at Walmart, KMart, pretty much any department store. Even some drugstores' sell them. They are easy to use. She may get a little nick but it isn't going to hurt at all. She probably won't even feel it until she sees' the bleeding. Good luck and happy shopping. Your daughter will be delighted!!

I just saw some electric razors for girls at Walmart. I'm not sure how well they work but they were mixed right in with the men's electric razors. We had to buy one for great grandma--85 y/o women who cant see should not be using a razor either! lol
I used the ones with the little soap bars around them. They are more expensive but they did reduce cuts and smelled good.
Once she cuts herself once or twice she will realize it doesn't hurt that bad. I know you can't tell her that though. :(
Best of luck!

Remington Lady Shaver Smooth & Silky and Lady Shaver Wet/Dry Electric Razor, you can order them both from Amazon.com . I'm 43 and Like Tyra Banks I've never had to shave my legs in my life and I couldn't imagine having to do that as a child. Wow. Under arms I do maybe twice a year or so and I use a lady shaver made by Lady Infinity which is suppose to last a lifetime and never get dull.

I use the $20 electric shavers from Target and Walmart. I believe Walgreens also carries them. I think mine is panasonic. I love mine and replace it yearly, since the blade becomes dull and constant charges wears on the battery life.

What my daughter use is an electric shaver called Phillips Bikini Perfect
It doesn't cut skin, so she has no need to worry
But one thing my daughter says is that it tickles a bit

I think she could get used to a razor but another alternative is smooth away as seen on tv. They have it at all the stores now.
