Hi Amy,
It will go away, eventually. It took me about a year after each birth before I felt no pain during sex. Everyone is different, but it will take some time for your body to heal.
I gave birth 3 months ago naturally with no problems. No tears or anything. Now it is painful to have intercourse and I would like to hear of others experiences with this. Its not a hormonal thing as the desire/etc is there. Nor is it an excruciating pain, just a dull pain that makes sex altogether unenjoyable. Is this going to go away, and if so, when?

It takes about 9 months for your uterus to contract back completely to it's normal size... I wonder if the pain is a result of your uterus being in a different position and different size. I have felt this dull pain during intercourse when I'm ovulating (the uterus drops lower at this time). I'm thinking this should go away with time but check with your caregiver if it doesn't! congrats on your natural birth too!
It will go away, but don't force it or it may take longer. I did tear a little bit and had the same kind of general ache you're describing. Things got better around 4 months and by 6, things were back to normal!!
My little one is six months old and things seem to be getting better now. I tore a little and experienced mild discomfort during sex for a while. We used lubrication until things got better. Things are much better now.
So hang in there!
