Try milk of magnesia. I heard that it works wonders for those who have severe diaper rash and do not respond to the rash creams.

It sounds like she has a yeast infection, they are common. You may want to get her to the dr. for prescription ointment or the name of a medicated ointment. A friend of mine's daughter gets this a lot and she has a special ointment she uses when it breaks out.

Have you tried using cloth diapers?
My daughter used to get a lot of rashes until I switched to cloth diapers. There are lots of cloth diaper choices out there, though you'll likely have to purchase them online. The closest place that you would be able to walk in and take a look in person before purchasing is in Ann Arbor and can be found online at www.treecitydiapers.com. There are lots of excellent websites out there that sell cloth diapers.
Other than that, I used powder in her diaper to help keep her dry and Aquaphor regularly to help protect her skin. I also preferred those thick, white pasty creams for when she did have a rash. They always seemed to work better on her skin.

My daughter gets the diaper rash that bleeds once in a while as well. I put some liquid vitamin E on it to help the healing process along faster and also it dosnt seem to burn her like some of the other creams do when she raw like that.

ask your ped for a script of nystatin for her rash it work great it will be gone quick

She might be allergic to something that she ate, as rash/sores on the bottom are often a secondary sign of that... is it consistent with anything she eats?

I feel for you...I am raising 5 boys myself and we suffered through many diaper rashes. My son experienced the same problem. There is a cream called Calmoseptine. You have to ask the pharmasist for it. It does not need a prescription, but it is kept behind the pharmacy counter. This has been our miracle cream. If I remember correctly it was $5 or $6. Good luck!

My kids have had diaper rashes this bad. The only thing that helped was petrolium jelly. Make sure she's completely dry and apply a thin layer of Vaseline (or whatever brand). This should start to help after a few days, if not you may need a presciption cream. But I have had success with this. Good luck!

I use Aquaphor on my 8 month old son and he hasn't had a rash in a long time. Aquaphor is made by Eucerin and can be found in any drugstore, Target, WalMart, etc. I also use it for cuts, dry spots....it works wonders!

When my son had severe diaper rash the doctor told us to try neosporin to try and stop the rash from getting infected with bacteria. After that did not clear it all up she told us to use Lotrimin on his little bottom. She said that it could be a form of Yeast infection. As soon as we did that it completely cleared up and we only use desitin on his little bottom now and that is almost with every diaper change.

This happens to my kids too. And I have noticed a link in what they eat when this happens. For my kids, it's bananas. Bananas seem to turn my kids BM's into acid. Not everytime, but if they eat too many. Their little butts look like a pincushion and bleed, it is really sad. So when it happens, I use calmoseptine, it is cheap and at all pharmacys. It works wonders. Their rash will clear up really quickly. But remember that the cream is slightly pink, so when you change the next diaper you dont freak like I did. But as far as not getting a rash at all, I guess you would just have to do a diet intake log. Good luck, I hope this helped.

My daughter (now 4) suffered from this very same thing. Unfortunately, I really have no "magic solution" to share with you, but I wanted to let you know that I do know what you are going through and I feel for you and your daughter. We just had to bear it until she outgrew it. I tried all of the same creams and would apply it even before she needed a diaper change. I just thought whatever barrier I could keep between her bottom and the diaper would hopefully add some relief. I also would use a regular first aid ointment (Meijer & CVS have a triple antibiotic ointment plus pain relief ointment) on the really bad raw spots.

Try chaning the brand of diapers you use. My little one had a slight diaper rash when I was using the Huggies but thanks to my shower, I had lots of different kinds and as soon as I switched to a different package (Pampers) it dissappeared... It's worth a try! BTW - we use the Target brand diapers now. They are so much better priced, do the job well, and don't irritate her sensitive skin!

My daughter also got a really bad rash with some diapers that have the green of blue dye on the inside of them. And if her stool is giving her a rash that bad I think something must be up maybe she has a milk allergy or something because that is not right. I would check and push the issue with your doc. Also you can get organic and hypoallergenic diapers and wipes I think they sell them at wal-mart and sparten stores. Good Luck M.

I've used magic butt cream on severe diaper rashes. It doesn't work great for protecting but it does work great to heal a sore bottom. I suggest using it at night when the baby isn't having bm's. You can either get a prescription from your doctor, or you can make your own. Here's the recipe: equal parts desitin (original, not creamy), lotrimin AF or generic equivalent (I use Target brand clotrimazole cream), and Maalox (it cuts the acidity that causes the burn). Mix until creamy, and apply as needed.

Hi, my daughter has had bad diaper rash like this one time. I use aquaphor and balmex creamy on her. It healed up very quickly and she has yet to have diaper rash again. Do you put cream on her every diaper change even if she is just wet? I do just to keep that barrier between her diaper and her little toosh. I got the aquaphor healing ointment, it comes in a large jar, I bought it a Rite Aid it was 16.99 plus tax. But it works wonders on her. I hope this helps you. I use Vitamin E capsules. I prick them with a needle and squeeze it onto the bottom and rub it all over the red area. When my daughter's are really red I usually use 5-6 capsules. It works very well. My parents used it on me and now I use it too!

Poor Baby. I know exactly what you are going through. My little girl got the same rashes. She is now 2 but she still occasionally will get a rash. Anyway, our doctor prescribed this cream called "Nystatin Cream". I promise it took care of her raw, bloody rashes every time. You can only get this cream by presciption. Ask about it. Baby Gold Bond Powder. That is the only thing that worked on my son. Everyone is such "anti-powder" nowadays. Just put it in between her cheeks with every diaper change and it will get better. You can find it at Wal-mart and most big retailers.

The best diapier rash cream I've ever used by far is Kiehl's diaper rash ointment. My son also had numerous bm's a day and some very bad diaper rash, but this took care of even the worst case in about 24hrs. www.kiehls.com It's expensive - $17.50/tube. I got it as a gift the first time, but it worked so well I bought another tube. It was worth it.

I am so sorry to hear about your sweetie!! I too cried when my kids would get sore bottoms!

I used to sprinkle corn starch on their bums, I believe it relieved their discomfort - soothing the pain, the diaper rash would clear up - not sure if that was from the corn starch or not but it sure did give them some nuch needed relief!

I agree with the other moms, ask your Dr. when it gets really bad and they will prescribe a medication. This happened with my daughter and it cleared right up in days!

For not too bad diaper rash try Bag Balm, it worked wonders for my daughter as well!

Ask your pediatrition for a prescription cream to use when it gets that bad. My oldest who is now 5 used to get really bad also. I can not remember the name but there is one available. Good Luck!

i know you posted this awhile ago, and you have recieved several responses. i just wanted to add that neosporin works wonders on my 8 month old! i use neosporin at the first sign of diaper rash. the rash goes away overnight. if neosporin doesnt work, than there is another cause for the rash- such as yeast infection. my ped. told me to use nystatin mixed with desiten and triple antibiotic(neosporin).

Whenever one of my kids gets a diaper rash I use the hair dryer on a low cool setting to dry it out. My son who doesn't sit still for anything will lay for as long as I'll do it. Then I usually use A&D ointment. Drying it out everytime seems to help alot. Also soaking with baking soda in the bath tub seems to help too.

Butt Balm is awesome. I use to have this problem with 2 of my triplets and my girlfriend told me about this stuff, it is WONDERFUL. Overnight the redness went away and the raw parts cleared up not long after. It also can be used for a lot more than just diaper rash. I hope this helps.

There is another over-the-counter product that works very well - its called Calmoseptine & you don't need a prescription, but you do have to ask the pharmacist for it because they don't keep it out on the shelves - when my daughter was about 1 yr old & on antibiotics she got very bad diaper rash, and this product worked wonders! So, you may want to give that a try :) And call your pediatrician, too.

Desitin didn't work completely for me - I bought Triple Paste and that worked wonders!

You may not believe this...but foot antifungul creme is the best solution. Lotrim AF, etc....My daughter got terrible diaper rashes, too. And because that diapered area stays warm and moist, yeast infections (fungus) sets up easity. I put a nice coating of the the antifungul creme and literally within a couple of hours, it is miraculously better. Lotrim (an other brand names) can be very expensive, so I've tried the house brands and they work just as well.

There is also an over the counter diaper creme that helps soothe...called Calmoseptine. It is about $7.00 a tube and you have to ask the pharmacist for it. It has calomine lotion in it and is kind of pinky, but seems to help soothe that painful area. I literally put a layer of antifungal and then a layer of diaper creme and she gets better very quickly.

One last thing that I learned is to use warm wet wash cloths to clean their bottoms when the rash is so bad. The wipes apparently hurt worse - an must have some kind of chemical or something that makes it harder on that area.

P.S. I have a 23 month old and a 5 month old...so it sounds like we are at the same place with our children.

When they released my from Hurley after he was born, they sent him home with a skin protectant called Proshield Plus. It is rather expensive ($9.99?) from drugstore.com, but he has never had a problem with diaper rash!

Nystatin (sp)... WORKS WONDERS!!!! It is a perscription, and her ped. needs to write it for her, but I would ask for it. The hair dryer trick works great to, but you need something to help the actual rash. My son has had HORRIABLE rashes due to antiobotic in the past, and within 2 days it is almost gone with the nystatin :) GOOD LUCK.

Cloth diapers have kept my younger two kids rash free. Wish I'd used them with my oldest tons of rash and uti's with her. I hope you find a good cure and prevention.

I tried Mylanta at every bowel movement, Triple Paste (aval at walgreens 30$) at morning and night and desitin in between.
Let her butt breath.
Also try to feed her some yougart(ask dr if she is old enough), if she is getting a yeast infection on her butt, this will help balance her natural bacterias in her digestive sysem.
Also if you do try some of the antifungle creams DO NOT use it more than 2 times a day, and use it for at least 14 days even if it looks better, you will just make very strong resistant fungus.
Give her lots of water, cut back on juice, at this age she should get no more than 4oz a day.

Have you tried Baking Soda baths? We have found that these help soothe and restore the ph of our daughter's skin rather quickly (along with destin, or similar). Our Ped's office also recommended that we try cranberry juice and yogurt to help reduce the acidity and if there were open sores, to use something like neosporine (triple-antibiotic cream) under the destin.

I used to use Balmex and baby powder. I would goop on the Balmex and then put the powder over that so it wouldn't stick to the diaper as much. This would be done every diaper change. It helped and made the rash go away after a couple days. The Balmex helps with the pain also!

I know you all ready recieved a ton of responses but I want to tell you what I found bag balm. Target Meijer or any stores sells it. It was first targeted for milking cows and their sore utters. But my ped told me about it and it works amazing. I use it with the Stong thick Destin Paste not the thiner product they have and Bag balm you are supposed to put it on as thick as peanut butter. I hope what ever you find works for your babys bottom. Good luck!

First of all, don't blame yourself. I could not get that concept in my head till I had my twins. I would change them at the same time and only one would get severe diaper rashes the other was fine. Still till now it is the same. Here is something that has worked so well for one of my girl who had the same problem as your daughter. It is called clotrimazole, brand name Lotrimen, yes the jock itch medicine. I usually just get the clotrimazole store brand like at walgreens, target, walmart, basically, any store. You apply a small amt of the clotrimazole, then seal it in with desitin, only the 40% is what I use. The next day, it is miraculously healed. I also had many, many of friends and relatives try this and they say it worked too. I know how frustrating this can be ut this really worked for me. Let me know what happens.

My 4 1/2 month old son also suffered from diaper rash. I did the same things as you...changed freqently, aired out etc. I felt so bad for him as well. I started using a natural diaper rash cream (which has zinc) from Arbonne. It is called ABC diaper rash cream. Nothing harmful to babies skin in it and it worked wonderfully. It did take a little bit of time to heal his bottom, but now I use it to prevent diaper rash. I apply even when he has no diaper rash. Now that the rash has been under control for about a month, I do not use it at every diaper change. It worked wonders. Works really good for eczema patches on skin too...who would have thought!!??!!

Go to your doctor~ I waited almost a month with my son and I tried every cure I could think of, turns out he's allergic to ALL over the counter diaper rash creams~I was actually making it worse everytime I put something on him. I had to get a prescription oil based product for him~ don't try to diagnose it yourself, the Pediatrician is there for a reason~ use him!!!

My 2nd daughter has problems like that too, once in a while from bm's. Her little butt got that red and raw too. I tried just about every kind of diaper cream, but the last one that the doctor said to try, worked wonders. It is a bit expensive, but it is awesome. It is triple paste medicated diaper rash cream, a lot of places don't carry it but if they do, it is behind the counter. I have Costco order if for me and it's there the next day and it is the cheapest place to get it from. A 1lb tub costs $22 compared to every other store I called, they wanted $36. They do sell it in smaller containers, but I think I paid $10 for a tube smaller than the desitin tube at cvs. Anyways, I hope that helps. Good luck, I know how rough that can be.

For Store bought creams.. I highly reccommend both Balmex, and Johnsons 3 In 1 Rash cream. The balmex always did the job for my son.. but i've seen the J&J 3in1 work miracles when I worked daycare.

Have you tried cloth diapers?

Try to change her diaper every few hours. And yes, let her go naked. Lots of water will help too.

In between diapers put a warm wash cloth on the sore with a bit of dial soap and just soothe the spot that is real sore.

If you must use ointment try Bag Balm, I know, sounds kooky but it's natural and works!

I had one daughter who had this problem too (I had 3 girls in all) I think Gold Bond's Baby powder is the best(there is one in a blue bottle and a yellow bottle) I used powder after every change!!

Also the doctor use to tell me to cover any medication with crisco (it keeps the moisture away from the sore). As for creams i think Balmex was the best! I haven't had to deal with this is quite a while and I hear now there is a Benson's Bottom Paint that is suppose to be great..Hope this helps,email if any other questions..

There are two more things you can try.....calmoseptine (sold at many drug stores - but usually you have to ask at the pharmacy counter. Target normally has this product). Calmoseptine is an improvement upon desitin. For the really, really bad diaper rash - that you daughter has - use Lantiseptic. This was recomended to me by the pediatrician, and typically is only available through hospital pharmacies. Lantiseptic is a barrier - it has beeswax in the product. So, the best way to apply is put some in your palms and rub your hands together until it gets warm and gooey - then slather it on the bum! Since this is a barrier product, nothing can get to the bum to bother it more, and the ingredients are also very soothing. Good luck.

I just recently joined Mamasource, but saw your post. Desitin creams only burned my girls bottoms worse and made them scream more. I found certain diaper brands caused more rashes and I changed brand's until I found one that didn't cause the rash. I also found grapefruit,orange, and cherry juices to cause severe burning through the Bowel movements.
A & D ointment was my most used cream. I also use over the counter yeast treatment (externally)when needed.

I just saw your posting from awhile ago. I hope the problem is better. When I was a new mom, I didn't know what caused diaper rash, and my son did have a bit- I wasn't getting all of the bacteria off of his bottom after a BM. My mom just told me to always wash him off in the sink with warm water and gentle soap. My kids never had diaper rash after that. I do worry about all of these wipes that people are using nowdays- they have chemicals in them that are doing who knows what to our children. Sometimes simpler is better. My daughter uses Seventh Generation wipes, when she needs wipes, so hopefully these are safer than other brands. She also uses Seventh Generation Organic diapers- orders by the case at diapers.com.
Why would one use organic diapers??? Because Pampers and Huggies, etc., are sprayed with chemicals (formaldehyde)for a longer shelf life. I guess they care more about the shelf life of the diaper than they do about the 'shelf life' of the child. It doesn't seem like such a good idea to have chemicals wrapped around our children's genitals for 2 years, as these chemicals are absorbed through our skin. It seems like so many young people are having infertility issues, and under 30 (Generation X) is the first generation to have disposable diapers used on them- could there be a connection??
Anyway, just passing along some suggestions and food for thought.

my girls both suffered from the exact same problem. two things worked for us:
one was vaseline, and LOTS of it. I'd put a huge glob in their diapers each time I changed them and it makes a good barrier against the wetness, etc. that aggravates those sores.
Second, there is a 'recipe' that your ped office can probably tell you. It contains a mixture of three things that I cannot remember right now. I know antibiotic ointment is one ingredient, also I think lotramin cream.
About Desitin, my doctor said that with sensitive bottoms like my kids have, the chemicals in Desitin actually end up burning their sores and making it worse. I sure felt bad after learning that!
Keeping them bare after a bath for as long as you can helps a lot too.
Hope this gives you some new ideas!

I love Bottom Butter from Palmer's. I get it at Babies R Us for about $3.99 for a large tube. It smells great, goes on easily and seems to work quite well. With my daughter I always used Balmex and like that as well, it is just harder to apply than the Bottom Butter. I also have gotten a prescribed one from the ped before when she was ill and had a rash.

Hi A. - Poor little girl! Have you tried a low dose of cortizone? I'd call your pediatrician first - of course - but we usually put on cortizone lightly when a rash would start and it would clear it right up. I'd also put on Bag Balm in between all changings. That stuff does wonders, too. Hang in there - it'll get better!

I know you've recieved a ton of wonderful advice about creams. I would suggest as a preventitive measure to switch to sensitive wipes (i use pampers sensitive, my son has eczema). Another, not sure if this is something you do, don't use wipes with just urine changes, this can slough off healthy layers of skin, and over dry an otherwise healthy bottom.

My daughter had the same problem. I used bag balm and it cleared it almost amedit.

You have received many very good ideas.
1 addtional thing that I used to do on occasion for my daughter; now 2 with very sensitive skin; was to let the air get to the rash before appling any creams. To help this along a bit I would use a very low heat hair dryer (recommended by my doctor) to dry the moisture left from cleaning her bottom.
This way you are not locking in moisture underneath your cream and I found that the bottom healed quicker.
She may have a food allergy that is creating the rash. If you think this is possible, try writing in a food journal to chart the foods she is taking in to determine the cause.

I realize you posted this a while ago, but I have to agree with the Cornstarch advice. It seems way too simple and I would NEVER have known to try it (sounds like an old-fashioned wives-tale to me) but it works wonders. A little girl at my SIL's had the same problem; raw, bleeding sores no matter how frequent the diaper changes. Pure cornstarch has kept her bottom rash-free for a couple months now. I use it at every diaper change, now, as well. It's way cheaper than the creams for everyday use. Good luck to you!

I know that this sounds pretty strange but it REALLY helps... after you clean her bottom and before putting the new diaper on, sprinkle her with corn starch. It's an old-fashioned remedy that my parents used on me when I was a little one. You can also buy corn starch baby powder but the actual corn starch works much better. When my son got diaper rash really bad I put A TON of it on him and it would almost clear up the rash overnight (hard to believe but its true). You're also doing it right by not using wipes (wipes they have some alcohol in them, they'll burn her lil bottom). You can also try wet paper towles (just use some tap water) and pat, don't wipe when she's really raw. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. `Julie

I don't know if it works for BM diaper rash, it worked for my daughter's urine diaper rash. Equal parts desitin, malox(sounds weird I know) Monistat (or something like it) and Hydocotizone cream. The malox cuts the acid, monistat for yeast and the other two because they are good for the skin. good luck!!

When my daughter was little, she too would get a rash really bad. I finally changed the brand of diapers I was using and that helped tremendously. Whatever is in the diaper reacted to her and caused her to break out. Also, for a rash that bad you might need a prescription cream.

A., My daughter used to have the same problem. I had to switch to sensitive wipes because the other wipes would break her out. Then when she had a rash like your child, I would take the Desitin Creamy mixed with a pea size amount of monistat 7 day yeast treatment. This mixture will get the rash gone fast. My daughter's doctor is the one that told me about this. It is stronger then the nystatin cream the prescribe. Good luck and I hope your child gets better soon!

My boys have never really had very bad diaper rash, but once when my oldest (he's 2 now) had diarrhea the doctor recommended that we use a combination of Desitin, Maalox, and Lotrimin AF. Our doctor's office calls it their "Magic Butt Creme." Hope this helps!

My first son has severe diaper rash, not from anything we were doing like not changing him enough, he just had different reactions to food, anyway...we used a combination of Desitin, Malox (to take the sting out) and Nystatin, you can only get this by RX, so ask your pedi...this works within an hour. It was a life saver for me!!!

Hi, My pediatrician recommended Triple Paste. It used to be available only through the Internet, but I recently found it at CVS and I think I also saw it at Target. It comes in a round, white tub with black lettering. I think the name itself is bright blue. I've also seen a small tube of it. It's certainly not cheap (I think the large tub is almost $20) but it works wonders. It's the only thing I used on my son and now on my daughter. I put it on her about once a day even when she doesn't have a rash, just to prevent one. Hope this helps, Good luck!!

My son had a very severe diaper rash when he was only a couple of weeks old. It dripped blood and was the worst his pediatrician (who's been practicing for over 25 years) has ever seen.

She recommended I use Calmoseptine on it. It's behind the counter at your local pharmacy. What you have to do is put it on SO thick that when you wipe up his poop there's still a layer of that Calmoseptine really thick on there. Be overly generous...almost to where you go through a tube every day or every two days! According to several people it works a lot of the times.

My son however was a unique case and it turned out that the Calmoseptine didn't help him. What did end up helping him was my getting sick. Hehe, I know sounds weird, but let me explain. I got blockages in both my breasts and an infection in one. It hurt very badly and so I stopped breast feeding for a couple of days. Well, it was remarkable in those couple of days his rash completely healed.

Another tip to dealing with the diaper rash was to use a warm wet washcloth to wipe his bottom or even a squeeze bottle with warm water to avoid even touching his butt.

You need to let that rash and bottom BREATHE! It's so important. I would put my son in a little robe (to keep him warm) and place him on his blanket (on his tummy) with tons of receiving blankets on my bed or the floor on the changing table and just fold his robe up over his bottom and let that air get at it. It's good to do this for twenty to thirty minutes three to four times a day!
I noticed you posted this question almost a year ago and may not be dealing with this diaper rash anymore...at least I hope you're not....BUT...it was in the SPOTLIGHT section and perhaps some other mom may benefit! :)

Hi A.. Poor baby girl. I know it is terrible. This is going to sound weird, but...mix desitin or zinc oxide, cornstarch and cherry malox into a thick paste. The malox neutralizes the acid in the peepee and poo, so it doesn't keep irritating the skin. The thickness of the paste makes it stick and not just wipe off into the diaper. If she has little red raised bumps, she might have yeast. If so, just add nystatin to the mix. You can use the first recipe for every diaper change and cease when it is better, if you have nystatin in it you should only use it two times a day. What I did for my daughter when she was 2 month and had horrible diaper rash was make two tuperware bowls of it. One with nystatin and one without. She was better in no time at all. Spectrum Health has Magic Butt Creame scripts, but Sparrow didn't know what it was. If you can get your pediatrician to write for it, Walgreens should know what it is. Take care and good luck. A.

Have you ever tried this stuff called Nistatin (Sp?). It is only prescribed from a doctor. It is usually used for yeast infections in babies. But my doctor prescribed it for my kids when they were babies and it cleared it right up. He just said that my kids just had very sensitive skin. I would just call up the doctor and describe what the rash looks like and for me they just called me in a prescription. I hope this helps.

I am sorry to hear about your daughters diaper rash. My son gets really bad rashes as well. The only diapers we can use on him are Pampers, I also buy the target brand diaper rash cream. I also have on hand Magic Butt Creame, I prescription that my sons pediatrition gave me. I have one container, and becuase of the frequancey of the rash, we either have a refill, or a new script waiting when we need it. I hope she is feeling better soon.

First of all, I would NOT use any anti-fungals unless they are recommended by your doctor and that is what is causing the reaction.

Second, both of my kids were breastfed and my first son got a HORRID diaper rash the first time I ate salsa while nursing. It was bleeding and extremely raw, it looked as though someone had burned his bottom. He has sensitive skin and for him we used cloth diapers, baking soda soaks,and Burt's Bees Baby Bee skin cream. Calendula cream also works wonders!

My son does the same thing and I have noticed that it is when he has anything with tomatoe like spagetti or anything like that. I use bag balm and it is wonderful. It keeps everything off of his bottom when he does go. And he does not cry when I put it on him unlike diaper rash creams. I can usually find it at rite aid, walmart, or kmart.

MY son had the same problem. I would sit him in a warm bath with baking soda to soothe the rash then i would use the calmoseptine cream..you do have to ask for it, usually kept behind the counter, it is actually for bed sores so it works really well. it is really thick and creamy. it was the only thing that helped my son. good luck!

My daughter has the exact same problem. She breaks out right on her butt. I use balmex. It works wonders!!! I also discovered that she is allergic to pamper products. I can only use huggies on her.

I had the same problem with my baby girl when she was 3 weeks old. It wouldn't go away. I too did everything that you have done. My sister-in-law's father is a Family Practice Dr and he took a look at her and gave me this recipe. It really worked! He calls it Magic Butt Cream. It is a blessing. You can find everything at the drugstore too. Here is the recipe
Magic Butt Cream
1/2 TUBE A&D OINTMENT
1/2 TUBE ZINC OXIDE CREAM
1 T. BACITRACIN OINTMENT
1 T MAALOX

After the rash is gone, I always use vaseline to protect her little bottom. I just put a thin layer on when I change her diaper. We really haven't had a rash since then. My pediatrician does that with her kids from the day they are born and she says that they have never had a diaper rash.

A quick, no doctor needed, fix... go to just about any store and get Lotrimin cream (used for yeast infections). This is great stuff and works wonders. A friend of mine had the "poop rash problem" also and when I told her that she laughed, but it worked.
