Im looking for a used lightweight stroller. I am going on vacation next week and in need of one asap. Anyone have one or know where to find one quick?
Thanks Guys!! I found a Peg Perego on Craigslist for $20!! What a steal!
Once Upon A Child if you have that store in your area. Or just pick up an inexpensive umbrella one at Toys R Us.
second hand kids store
When you say lightweight, what do you mean? We got ours at Babies R Us, just an umbrella stroller. DH didn't like it b/c it was short, but worked very well for me.
Check craigslist or a thrift store.
New light weight unbrella strollers can be easily found for less than $15. A more sturdy folding stroller that weighs a bit more is also more expensive. I bought one when my granddaughter was born 14 years ago. I preferred using it instead of the umbrella stroller. It cost around $50 Back then. It held up well. I still have it. I found it at Target.
It folds up vertically to be nearly as compact as an umbrella stroller. The big advantage for me is that once it's folded in half it's tightly compact. I fumble with unbrella strollers because they flap even when folded up. The compact one I'm trying to describe folds up unto one compact piece. It also is easier to control when using it. It has an under the seat basket and reclines. If you're interested in knowing more about it let me know and I'll find a picture on line.
Resale/thrift/consignment shops are good for an inexpensive stroller if you don't think you'll have a lot of use for it long-term. Call ahead to see if they have umbrella strollers which take up the least amount of space in a car or on a plane (not sure how you are traveling). They are fine for everyone except an newborn. Make sure the seatbelt works.
Do you have a Children's Orchard near you? That's a chain of resale shops around here but I don't know how extensive they are. Otherwise the standard discount stores and toy stores will have them. Sometimes churches have thrift shops too.
You can also ask your neighbors if they have one you can borrow for just a short trip - a lot of people have more than one stroller and they might be able to part with one for a week if you are a good neighbor. Repay them with some nice chocolates or baked goods!
Go to goodwill, 2nd hand stores.
You can find a new umbrella style cheap. We bought a cheap one from Target ( anywhere but Walmart because we refuse to buy anything from Walmart and will go out of our way and spend more $$ before we give Walmart a dime!) everytime we got to our vacation destination and then we left the stroller at the front desk of the hotel for someone else as we left vacation to come home.
