HI there. I have a 4 1/2 month old and I am seeking a play group or a qualified day care so that I can start to socialize her. She is my first and possibly only child so I want her to have a support group in place. Any suggestions would be great!

What can I do next?

Hi there!
There are some moms groups in Costa Mesa that meet at local parks and other cordinated events regularly, that would be a great way for you and your baby to socialize.
OC Parenting Magazine and some of the other free local magazines always have ads in them for these groups.
Mariners Church and Rock Harbor Christian also have MOPS, which are groups of moms that get together to discuss different topics while their kids are in childcare that is provided.
Hope this helps.

Hi A.- My daughter started in a full time daycare at 8 months because I had gone back to work. She, too, is and will be an only child. I don't know if you are looking for more of a play group type situation, but if you are looking for the BEST daycare in Orange County (or anywhere!) tnen I have the person for you. I don't know if she has openings, but she has been running a daycare from her home on Balboa Island for over 25 years, and my daughter (now 5 1/2) still asks to go back and visit some days, or on school days off. Not only did my daughter become completely socialized and ready for pre-school, and also for "real" school (she goes to Carden Hall) through the love and life lessons that she learned here, but we have met some of the nicest families, who we remain good friends with to this day. Her name is Sam, and her ph# is ###-###-####. She is wondertful- and I never had a single worry from day one leaving my daughter in her care. Hope that helps.

Here is a moms play group in your area. My sister in law went a couple of times but just doesn't have the time. I think it is for all age ranges. They meet different places around town and have different activities planned and it is free. Have fun!

Hi A...

My name is V. Rossiter and I am with Childcare Resource Network as well as Orange County CHild Care Assoc.
OCCCA offers free referrals for state lic Family Child Providers within all areas of Orange County.
These providers are in good standing with Dept. of Social Services, as well as members of OCCCA.
Let me know what zip code you are interested in and I will forward the gals name and phone # for you.

If you are interested in how to identify a "quality, intentional" provider, please let me know. CRN has a Parent Packet available. This not only contains the states rules and regulations and license capacities for FCC, but it also contains all kinds of helpful resources which will serve you well over the next four to five years.

Let me know if I can be of service.

Try Gymboree Play and Music...there's one that's just off the 55 at Dyer, I think. It seemed fun for my son when we did the baby class and it was great for me...
