I put out a request so long ago and still no luck. So here I go again. I have a now 5 yr old ( Jan Bday- late bday) boy who finally after a year and half of searching started preschool for the first time 2 weeks ago. I just found out on friday that the school will be closing, going out of business at the end of this month Feb.2009. After all of this I am back to square 1 again. I cried so bad, because I feel like my child dont deserve this. Schhools re filled up, I been on waiting list and called schools and they have no room. I dont know what else to do at this point. I felt by him finally starting school 2 weeks ago that god heard my prayers and everything was coming together. But it was aslap in the face. He wont have the experieence of being round other kids and socializing with them to prepare him for KG In August or Sept. this year. At this point I feel like there is no hope in getting my baby into school. i haVE RUN OUT OF OPTIONS. Can anyone please help me?? I AM SOOO DESPERATE in finding him a school.

I really appreciate it.

What can I do next?

My daughter went to a Spanish immersion school here in SF called the Crayon Box. They now have 2 locations, one in Daly City, and the other is on Ocean Ave / Cayuga Ave. I can't begin to tell you what a great experience we had in that school! She is now in Kindergarten, just turned 5 last November, and is thriving! The start that she got @ the Crayon Box is completely well worth the tuition. Check it out, give them a ____@____.com's a year-round school so summers will never be an issue as far as child care, they provide breakfast & lunch for all the kids and they have nap time between 1-3, then snacks and play when they wake up. There is not enough words to express my gratitude to the staff there for the start they gave my daughter - it showed in her first 2 report cards! ;) Good luck! ;)

Hi C.,
It's not easy getting quality childcare in SF - I think most of us can identify with your struggle! But the one thing you have on your side is that your son is older (and many 5 yrs olds have started Kindergarten). I would look into larger preschools like Marin Day (where my 5 yr old goes). They have several locations throughout SF and there is often a lot of movement in the older classrooms. They are not cheap but they do have partial scholarships available if that is an issue. Here is there website: http://www.marindayschools.org/jadworks/mdshome/jwsuite.n....

Also, if you get put on a wait list, it is always helpful to keep calling every couple weeks or so. This way they get to know you and keep you in the forefront of their mind if any space should open up.

Best of luck to you and your son!

N.
