Seeking Pre-school for 2 Year Old, Preferably in McKinney/Frisco Area

I have just moved here and I have a son who turned 2 in March and a son who is 2 months. I am hoping to enroll my 2 year old in a pre-school class. The class I was looking at in Ohio before I moved was a church-based preschool and was just 2 mornings a week. In terms of time, 1 or 2 mornings a week is what I am looking for. I am looking to enroll my son because I feel that he would benefit from a little time away from me. (I am a stay-at-home mom and he is VERY attached to me.) I know I could do Mom's Morning Outs, but I think my son would do better in the structured, consistent environment of a pre-school class. I know that it is probably late to be enrolling for the fall at this point, but I still want to try. Please, any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks so much.

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for your great advice. I ended up choosing Joyful Beginnings at First Presbyterian Church in Allen. It's a little farther away than I wanted, but it offered 9AM to 1PM class 2 days a week. I went on a tour and really liked it. Most of the suggested schools in McKinney went until 2 or 2:30 which didn't work well with my son's afternoon nap schedule. Thanks again for all the suggestions and information.

There are also 2 Primrose schools in McKinney. I have heard mixed things about them, so do your research, and see if they're a good match for your son. I have a couple of friends who work at McKinney Montessori, which is also good, but I don't know if they take kids for only a morning or two a week. We're thinking of sending our DD to Holy Family School in McKinney next year (fall 09)--it's affiliated with our church, and we have friends who highly recommend it: http://www.hfsmckinney.org/history/index.htm
They start at 2 y/o, and you can choose 2 days/week, 8-2:15.
I also know that the Lutheran and Methodist churches on Virginia just west of 75 in McKinney offer preschool, but I don't know anything in particular about them.

My kids are at Lakeside Montessori Academy. They have a wonderful educational & structured program for this age. Their part time program is 3 days a week. They learn so many cute things like how to walk in line nicely, matching, sounds, Spanish and they have library/ music time.

Just a comment on Primrose... I considered sending my son to the one on Virginia Pkwy in McKinney, so I scheduled a tour. The teacher/child ratio was not low - I saw a child stand on a chair for several minutes before the teacher (seated at the same table) noticed and ask him to come down. That was one of several safety concerns, so we did not change our son's preschool. I have heard positive things about some of the other Primrose locations, however, so it may be an issue in that site alone.

Primrose Schools sounds like the kind of place you are looking for. There are two of the best located in Plano. Here is the web-sites for both locations.

Primrose schools have low child to teacher ratios, and offer half days, part time and full time childcare.

Good Luck!
