I have a 2-year-old and a 3-week-old and I am looking for a playgroup or a mom's group in the Lincolnwood area. We are new to Chicago and don't know anyone here yet, so I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

What can I do next?

N.,
The Chicago Public Library on Devon, near Central, is very nice and has many activities for kids.
Welcome to Chicago.

Hi N....I live in Edgebrook and also have a 2 year old girl and an 11 week old girl. I am in a playgroup, but it would be nice to start a siblings group. We could meet at the library or park sometime.

Hi N.,

A great resource for playgroups are "mom and tot" classes through the local park districts. Chicago Park District has several through various parks. You can go online to view the new offerings beginning tomorrow, Nov 13th. (Chicagoparkdistrict.com)

There are also great classes through Niles Park District which is near Lincolnwood. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with Lincolnwood parks. Niles Family Fitness has great classes and is on the corner of Oakton and Waukegan, again not far from you. I would also try the Skokie Park district which is close to Lincolnwood.

Also, FYI, if you haven't already been there, there is a great indoor place to take your two girls called the Exploratorium. It is nice for winter. It is a part of the Skokie Park District and is located on the corner of Oakton and Skokie Blvd.

I have 2 boys, 4 and 2 and have met moms with kids the same ages through these kinds of classes. Good luck!

p.s. Welcome to Chicago. Hope you love it here! I was born and raised here, so I'm biased. But, we were just in Florida, and miss the warm weather as well!

Hey N.! I am also new to the area, from Texas, so I know how you feel. This winter will be a true test, won't it?? I live in Oak Park and recently started a playgroup/mom's group here with moms I met on mamasource. If this is close enough for you to get to once a week or so, let me know and I will include you on emails. But I have a feeling you will hear from other moms who are closer to you! ... Otherwise maybe someday we can come to you. I think that is not too terribly far from here. I have a two year old dtr and will be working M/T/Th.
