Seeking Play Dates - Safety Harbor,FL

I am new in Safety Harbor and I have a two and a half year old son. I am a stay at home mom, so my son has never really had too many kids to play with. I see him playing with toys calling them his "friends" and it breaks my heart. When we go to the beach or play ground he just sits and watches other kids play. It seems like he has no social skills at all and i feel like it is my fault. If anyone is looking for a play date please contact me through my e-mail. ____@____.com

Thank you

T.,

You are in the right area to find LOTS, and I mean LOTS of things to do with other kids and moms! Have you considered joining your local chapter of MOMS Club? You will be grouped with other moms with kids your sons age and that all live in your local zip codes, making playdates and meet-ups convenient. Additionally, there are TONS of things to do locally to let him get out and play with other preschoolers... thats one of the wonderful benefits of being a SAHM is that you have the chance to take him to all these weekday events and activities with other kids/moms!

There are preschool storytimes at all the local libraries, usually once or twice a week around 10 am for an hour. Its FREE and kids get to sing, listen to stories and usually do a craft. They are set up by age, check out each library's website or call for times.

Heritage Village has preschool 'Village Ramblers' every 1st Wed of the month from 10-12 for $5, Future Flipz has open play time for little ones on Tuesdays 12:30-1:30 for $8 for 2 kids (2 for 1 day!), Bounce U has preschool time every morning 9:30-12 (except Wed) and includes a snack...the kids love this place, Saddle-Up Riding Stable in Pinellas Park has an AWESOME preschool program called Mommy, me and Horsey too and it is held every 2nd Wed and 4th Thursday of each month. Kids 1 yr+ get to ride a pony, see rabbits and guinnea pigs, groom mimi horses, play on a playground, have storytime and a snack and often a craft! Its $5 and requires online registration for the week you want at their website. Lots of local nature parks have preschool times monthly (Boyd Hill, Weedon Island, Brooker Creek, Mocassin Lake, Botanical Gardens). Great Explorations in St Pete is also great for little kids...lots to do with other kids and indoors during the summer heat. A membership is well worth it! Have you considered Gymboree? I hear with the new corporate ownership that they now offer monthly memberships, that way you can see if it's something you like. Although it can be pricey, its a GREAT way to socialize (both tot and mom!).

There is SOOOO much to do locally with other kids and moms! Good luck in your quest and feel free to email me :-)

T., My son just turned 5 yrs old. We live in Safety Harbor but my husband and I both work. Trent loves Phillippe (not sure on spelling) park. If you think Trent would be too old for your son, I understand. Otherwise I could meet you there on a weekend to see how the boys get along. Take care! L.

check out www.meetup.com/northpinellasplaygroup we have 118 members in 4 months & get together almost daily (it's a group I started for the reasons you mention) & it has grown so much bigger than I ever imagined! We even have some weekend get togethers so Dad can be included & occasional Mom's Night Out (low key :) so we can talk without chasing someone :)
