Seeking Pediatrician for Newborn

My husband and I are expecting our first child in February. We are seeking a well established pediatric practice with more than one doctor, and doctors that preferably have children of their own, so they can understand a first timers concerns and worries. The doctor should also have privileges at Brandon Hospital. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

I take both of my kids to Healthpoint Pediatric on Parsons. They see Dr. Champoux-Rhoden and have been since they were both newborns. She is great with them. She is also great with me. I am a very very paranoid mommy! There are 3 other doctors there that I like very much as well.

Hello B.!

I'm also a first time Mom (our baby just recently turned 2 months old) and we were looking for pediatricians before she was born! A friend recommended the Pediatric Healthcare Alliance - we took a look and so far they've been great! You can check the website (www.pedialliance.com). I don't know about the privledges at Brandon Hospital, but you can ask them... Hope this is helpful!
All the best for you and your family!

I take my children (16 month old boy and 2 month old boy) to the Pediatric Care Center, located at:602 Vonderburg Drive, Brandon, FL 33511. It is located across the street from the Brandon library. My husband and I both take the kids there (seperatly and together) and have never had any problems with them. The one time we had to take my oldest son in to be seen when he was actually sick and not just for a check up we went to the back door, rang the bell and were brought right into a room. I don't believe any sick children go into the waiting room.
They have multiple doctors and they take the time at every visit to explain things and answer any questions we have (no matter how silly). We found them b/c Dr. Patricia Buck was the pediatrition doing 'rounds' the day my first son was born, at Brandon Hospital. She does have children of her own, and as I stated above, is very understanding of every concern we ever had.

I go to the Citrus Park office of Pediatric Healthcare Alliance. They are awesome. Not only do they take the time to ask questions, but they also do a lot of following up. My son was recently diagnosed with RSV/bronchialitis and the doctor (Dr. Anton) called every day until the next visit to see how Jordan was doing. I thought that was very special. There are two or three doctors in that office (I know of two Dr. Anton and Dr. Ackley). They have several offices around the area and recently opened a new after-hours office in South Tampa too. I know that Citrus Park is far from you, but I believe they have offices in Brandon too. You can go to their website (pedialliance.com)and find locations. They also let you download all the registration forms and fill them out so that when you go in for the first appointment you don't have to spend 10-15 minutes filling out paperwork.

Being that you are expecting, I would suggest that you go to the offices and have a visit to see what doctors you like and feel comfy with. I didn't do this when I was pregnant and I regretted it.

Good luck.

We currently take our children to HealthPoint Pediatrics right by Brandon Hospital. They have 4 doctors in their practice and all of my friends take their children there as well. We all absolutely love it. Their phone number is ###-###-####. Give a try, I'm sure you will love it there too.

My children are now 28 and 24, but they went to Dr. Mook Sang on Parsons near the hospital. He is a very kind, gentle person and always took time to talk to you about things and explain any concerns. There are some other newer people in the practice and I am not as well acquainted with them, but would highly recommend Dr. Mook Sang.

We also use Pediatric Healthcare Alliance, we use the Northside office on Fletcher Ave though. We love the group. They are always accomodating and usually get us right in to see the doctor. They have 2 offices (the Brandon and Carrollwood offices) open after hours each night.

My daughter was born at Brandon Hospital 2.5 years ago. Because our pediatrician didnt have privileges at Brandon, we saw 2 doctors from the Brandon office instead. We saw Dr Trubelhorn and Dr Jeansonne. They were both wonderful and very caring. They both took the time to come into my room and talk to me about the baby. Dr Jeansonne was concerned about my daughter's potential jaundice and even offered to see me in her office on Saturday if I was not able to get in to see our regular doctor.

My pediatrician is Dr.Nadal. When I had my baby he had to be in the NICU for 11 days and when I told them who my pedi was they knew his number and fax number by heart. That made me feel good and they all commented on what a good practice that was.

Congratulations to you on your soon to be newborn. I live in the Seffner area as well. Since my first son was born, we have been seeing the doctors at what is now the Brandon Office for Pediatric Health Care Alliance. Dr. Hough, Dr. Jeansonne, and Dr. Trublehorn have been with the practice since before we started there. They joined the Pediatric Health Care Alliance a few years ago. Dr. Hosemann is with them and also excellent as well as a very good nurse practioner that works with them. They also have evening hours staffed by the on call doctor every evening and Saturday morning hours.

They are located at 811 S. Parsons Avenue in Brandon. Phone ###-###-####.

I highly recommend them. I am an RN myself and have very high expectations for any physician that cares for anyone in my family. I have been very happy with this group.
