Seeking Pediatric Dentist in Flower Mound

Hi!

I have an 18-month old and I have gotten different recommendations regarding dental care for my son. We brush regularly and he has about 12 teeth in so far. I am wondering when I should take him for his first "real" check up, and if anyone has a recommendation for a great ped's dentist. My son is somewhat slow to warm up to people, so a mellow environment with friendly faces would be best.

Thanks much!

Unfortunately we haven't found a good one either, but I can definitely tell you who to AVOID- Cross Timbers Dental, the office of Dr. Brad Revering. I left in tears with my 2 year old son, who had to be seen because of discoloration the pediatrician noticed. The Dr. and staff were horrible to him, and we actually even left before they finished.

I know you said Flower Mound - but this is where my DS is having his first dentist appointment next month. Dr. Kelli came highly recommended. DS is 3, and this will be his first appointment.

I've been a dentist in Highland Village for the past seven years, and MY preschooler goes across the street to Dr. Jason Clapp at Pediatric Dental World! I know first-hand that Drs. Clapp and Bell: 1) are extremely good with children, 2) are very careful not to "miss" anything, 3) use modern techniques and equipment, and last but not least...their restorative work is consistently of very high quality! Their staff is also very warm and personable.

You should definitely schedule your little sweetie's first dental visit! His first visit at this age will be a very easy, positive experience. It's so important that children be screened at an early age for many reasons. Start your child on the road to a healthy mouth early, and give him the best chance at developing a positive relationship with professional dental care. :)

My son, now 3 is terrible for all Dr. exams, but he opens right up for Dr. Jason Clap at Pediatric Dental World in Highland Village. Cool office with distractions for kids and there are TVs on the ceilings for those kids that lay down for proceedures. His staff is very nice too. The office is almost across from Excite on Highland Village Road b/f you cross the train tracks.

Dr. Natalie Goodman in Lewisville is fantastic. She is young, has her own 18 month old son and is always upbeat! I love her staff! I would send either of my grandsons to her!!

The best pediatric dentist in the area is Dr. Melissa Rozas in Coppell. I have a couple of friends in Flower Mound who were referred to Dr. Rozas by their Pediatrician. My kids all love her and her staff! www.rozasdds.com

Hi!! I have had great experiences with both Dr. Debrah (??) Duffy located on Old Settlers right across from the elementry and McKamy middle school. Also, Dental Care for Kids across from Sprouts on 1171. Extremely happy with both offices. I switched to Detal care 4 kids because I wanted to be able to compare the two. Duffy's office is filled with more things for mom and kids to do while waiting. That was about it!! Good luck!

I have two boys, age 2 and 4. I took my first when he was almost 3 to the dentist for the first time. That was perfect as far as timing. Since we were already going at that point, my younger son went for the first time when he was about 18 months. They can't really do much at that age, so it is kind of a waste of time and money. Plus, my little one cried and fought the dentist the entire 2 minutes he was looking at his mouth. I would recommend waiting until closer to 3 unless his ped. recommends differently.

Thanks for the dentist recommendation too! :)

Hi T.,
I have been in the dental field for over 20 years now. Many years in pedo. The ones that I would HIGHLY recommend in Flower Mound is Dr. Andrea Gonzales and Dr. Tom Wickersham (husband and wife team) @ 2260 Cross Timbers; Flower Mound 75028. They are at the corner of Morriss and 1171 next to CVS. New Office for them there. They are wonderful and I think you would be very pleased! ph# ###-###-####.

i have taken both my children to the pediatric dentist dr. gober in colleyville ###-###-#### every 6 months from the time they were 18 months old. he is very good with children - my daughter was scared to death the first time and screamed and cried - i was young and dumb, i asked them if they wanted me to hold her down while they looked in her mouth and they said absolutely not - they didn't want it to be a bad experience - they spent about 30 minutes with her just talking to her and getting her calmed down and then just briefly looked around her mouth - dr. gover always blows up a rubber glove like a balloon and the kids love it and they get to pick out a toy - i have referred many friends who also love him - you would need to try to request dr. gober as he only works in the office a couple days a week now - he now has other pediatric dentist that work with him who are very good also

My family has been seeing Dr. Debra Duffy in Flower Mound since my kids were each 2 or 3. I really like the family environment in that office. The staff is amazing and when I tell my kids that their dentist appointment is coming up, they both say, "YEAH!"

Hers is the dentist office where the parent is allowed to go back with your child on the first visit and the remaining visits they go back by themselves. I love this. They gain the self-confidence to do it w/o me or their dad and I know they behave a lot better w/o me hovering. Neither of them has had any hesitation to go back and neither have I in sending them.

The website for Dr.Duffy suggests the first visit at 12 months. If you call them, I'm sure they can help you decide whether or not to make your first appointment. I cannot say enough about how happy we have been at this office!

We have been going to Flower Mound Dental behind Chick Fil-A on 407. Their number is ###-###-####. It does not specialize in pediatrics but that have been great with my kids. They work with the kids and do what they can based on their comfort level. My five year old has had at least three visits there and my three year old has been there twice. My 21 month old also went as he had a great deal of build up on his teeth and they were able to clean them (at my request) even though he fought them a littl bit. Anyways, they are very friendly, use kid friendly terms, play around with them, etc. I highly recommend them. Our hygenist is Amy and she has two young kids, as well, so she can related to the fears that the kids may/may not have.

Good luck!

Hi T.! I have 8 kids ranging from 19 y/o to 21 months. The first time you should take them for a check up is after their first birthday. Dr. Jason Clapp in Highland Village is awesome! Since moving to Flower Mound in 2002 we've been going to see him. He is a pediatric dentist, very compassionate and reasonable. He always explains everything and gives you the choices of treatment. The kids love going there! His ph# is ###-###-####. The staff is very friendly and helpful too.

I take my kids to our dentist, Dr. Marye (pronounced Marie) in Bartonville Town Center. He has told us that between 3 and 4 is a good time to start, but my 2 yr. old was with us last time we went in and sat in the chair and played with some of the equipment. He doesn't charge unless he actually gets through the exam with the kid! They have a really nice playroom and are extremely good with the kids. My kids ages 2,4 and 7 LOVE to go to the dentist. It is nice for us because the whole family can go at the same time and it is a really pleasant experience.
