Google search "Father's Toolbelt" I bought one for my boss when he was expected his 2nd child and it's perfect! The one I bought looks like a apron for the waist and it came with all the accesories (diaper cream, wipes, pacifier, etc)

We all know about "mother's rings" so how about a "father's ring" with the birthstone(s) of the baby's birth month.

I had a polo embroidered with "New Dad" on it and once our daughter was born, we put her footprints on it in puff paint. NOw, we are expecting our second, so another set can easily be added.
It was fun because I had a shirt or had made for everyone in our family that was there that day... my mom was the only exception (she loves to knit) so I had a bag made for her and she still carries it with her knitting everywhere!

I would get him a sling or baby carrier in a masculine fabric, maybe even a cool diaper bag. Another idea is the book or DVD "Happiest Baby on the Block". It is great for helping dads (and moms, too) know what to do soothe their baby.

I didn't get Paul a father's day gift when I was pregnant, but last year for his first father's day I got him a hammock! He's always wanted one and I just pictured him napping in there with one or both of the boys on a nice afternoon. I was careful to look at weight limits/structure etc. and got one made in the US.

Hi J.
I did something that my husband really liked when I was prego with my daughter...I wrote in a hard bound journal daily about my experiences and trials and tribulations. i did this without him knowing. I wrote about what I wanted her to have from him. What I wanted her to do with him. how I felt day to day and what I was dreaming of for our daughter. Then I packed it in my suticase and gave to him the night she was born. He read and read it while in the hospital, since you are awake many hours and being interupted every 2, he had a lot of time to read. I would notice him tearing up at times and laughing at others. It was help for me while writing and I think he loved it. Hope this is the idea you were looking for.

Good luck, Kat

I recommend etsy.com for unique, handmade gifts. They have a section with gift ideas - including one for men. You have access to thousands of sellers and can even request a custom made item if you cannot find exactly the item you want. It is quick and easy and free to register.

Happy shopping!

My daughter-in-law gave my son a brown suede diaper bag for when he had the baby. It was very masculine-looking and I think it was the first time that he realized he would have his own alone time with his child.

Buy him a copy of the CD, "Somebody's Daddy...Lullabies for Dads". It's a lovely collection of original lullabies written by a new dad all about the wonders and beauty of fatherhood. It's also neat because the lullabies get sleepier and sleepier until the very end. It's perfect to add to a basket, or as it's own gift. You can listen to them on the website:

When my husband and I had our son (who is now 13 omg) I now wish that I had done photos of me and my pregnant belly. If I could I would have some black and white professional photos taken of ALL of you, your new family!
Maybe put a picture of you , your husband , and the picture of all 3 of you in the middle.

My mother-in-law mad me a frame with all 3 of my kids pictures in it (got them from my husband with out me knowing) at the bottom of the frame says "FAMILY" on a metal oval in the middle and in script on both sides says "...all because two people fell in love..."
Even though my husband didn't do much it ment the world to me! Best Mother's Day I ever had!!!!!
I hope this will give you some ideas or help with your pregnancy brain block.

Hi J.
I have two good website for you. www.uncommongoods.com they have very fun ideas for gifts and they brake it down by his and hers and different occasions ad price ranges. Its a cute site. The other site is more of t-shirts and onecies and they have some super cute ones. How it works is they are designed by random people that submit the designs and then everyone votes for designs weekly and then it's produced.
Ohhh i forgot of one more, this one truly is awesome etsy.com

Go to Etsy.com and in the search box type "henandchick" (hen and chick with no spaces!) AFTER choosing "Sellers: usernames" in the drop-down box. This lady makes the BEST baby slings that work great from newborn to toddler-age.

It's a great way for dad to feel like he's participating more with the baby. Plus, she makes them with different patterned fabrics, or just solid colors and you can choose which one you want. They are so well-made and durable.

Everyone I've given one to have loved them. Good Luck!

Hi J.,
When we had our baby shower for our first born---almost 21 months old now---it was a "couples shower", so both husbands and wives were there.

I wanted to make it special for my husband, since so much attention was going to be on me opening gifts. So I bought him his own gift to open (from our baby).

The gift was a male-themed diaper bag, the "Diaper Dude" (in black), which I filled with the following: 1) cute onesies that said things like "My Dad Rocks" and "My Daddy Drinks Because I Cry" (hilarious one that looks like a Jack Daniels label); 2) bibs that said "Daddy's Little Driver" (Daddy's a car nut) and "I Love My Daddy", etc.; 3) some burp cloths that had a saying about Daddy's changing diapers (can't remember it now); 3) 1 - 2 bottles; 4) 1 - 2 sippy cups; and I'm sure some other things that I can't remember. What's funny is that we used that diaper bag for the first year and a half of our baby's life!

After our son, Connor, was born, I put a 5 x 7 picture of Daddy holding his son at the hospital in a frame for his office.

I hope this helps!

I found my husband a 'guy box/jewelry box' and had the pewter tag on top engraved with I love you daddy. He uses this to hold tie tacks, change all the guy stuff. Our daughter is 10 now and it is still used daily. I got it in the mall at one of the gift shops (Lasting Impressions maybe?) can't remember. Congratulations on your new baby!

Make sure to get pregnant pics with him! Also, take a Bradley class with him--aka Husband Coached childbirth. That will really involve him! (My favorite is the class where they teach him how to give you a massage.)

Write him a letter from the baby and frame it.

Get him a hat or tshirt that says world's best dad or #1 dad or daddy to be or i've got my daddy wrapped around my little finger, with a pic of a baby hand clasping a daddy finger.
Look up famous poems about daddy's little princess and print it out.
Attach a babystrology (sp?) widget that says how long till arrival on his blog.
Compile photos from your and his childhood, make a collage and leave room for baby's future photos.
Give him a pic frame for his desk of daddy's little princess, or a mug...I could go on and on.

Congratulations! Good Luck!
