Just be careful not to use it on dark clothes too long because it can cause that spot where you sprayed to lighten; otherwise, it works really well, both spray and powder.
Hi! I have been given so many cute second hand outfits for my kids but I need to find a good cleaner that will remove already washed and dried set in food/formula stains. Many people suggest Oxy(i)clean. (Not sure about spelling.) Anyway is it a spray, powder, gel, etc? Do you use the one especially marked for "baby" or does it mater? Thanks in advance!!

E.,
Wow, Alli's comment was kind of scary...poor little guy! Just wanted to let you know that they do actually make a Baby Oxi Clean. I bought it at Babies R Us, and it works very well. It comes in a spray bottle. You might actually have to treat tougher stains a few times, but it has never failed to get stains out on my daughter clothes. Good luck fighting those stains! btw, my daughter is sensitive to EVERYTHING, and thank goodness has never had any problems with me using the Baby Oxi Clean.
I use the oxyclean powder. You can put some on set in stains, but I also put a scoop in every load of wash.
I've only used the powder. It works great, but sometimes you have to soak for as much as 24 hours depending on the stain. I just put a bunch of it in the washer along with detergent & downey and then turn it on but leave the lid open so clothes just soak.
Use both spray and powder. Spray stain with powder and put in sink with luke warm water, with a scoop of powder. You might have to keep resoaking it a couple of time, depending on how bad stain. Good Luck!!
Not to scare anyone or anything, but I tried Oxyclean in January and soon after my son came down with these bumps on his hands, which turned out to be a form of eczema,(dishydrotic eczema- bumps, red and raw patches and skin peeling off his fingers) according to the dermatologist. She told me that there was nothing that caused it and he would probably have it the rest of his life. The only thing that I had changed at all was the addition of the Oxyclean to the laundry. This, by the way, is a child that has never had an allergy to anything (is 2.5yo). Well, I quit the Oxy and his hands got better. The bumps have not returned. Just be aware of any changes in your kids if you use it. I've never heard of anyone else having any problems from the product, but, for me, it's hard to see it as a coincidence. I've never even used Dreft with him when he was a baby- only Tide.
There is a stain remover that I used all the time at Walmart. It is in the baby section, I think it is in a white spray bottle with a pink label. I can't remember what it is called, but I saw it just the other day when I was there with daughter and grandson.
Oxy I know for sure comes in a powder, it may come in a spray now, but there isn't one especially for "baby". I would think it would be safe to use, I would for a 19 mo old, but I wouldn't for the newborn. I would think after they are 6 months old it would be fine.
Hopes this helps.
OxyClean is really good for carpet stains also, not sure on childrens clothes, but it is very cost effective, and most of all works, I would use the Dreft afterward for precaution on sensitivity to baby's skin. I am not sure what forms it comes in, but when I bought it was a liquid spray.
