Seeking Moms' Group/Playgroup in Carrollton Area or Near

Starting mid-January, I will be working from home full-time (I work away from the home right now.) My son will continue to stay with our childcare provider (in her home) but one day a week I hope to keep him home with me so we can participate in a playgroup! He will be six and a half months old by then.

I'm also so eager to meet other moms in the area! We don't know many people here, and I'd love to make relationships with other moms so I can have someone to share this wonderful journey with. My husband is great and is a fabulous involved father; but I really am needing some "other" adult interaction and am longing for a group of friends and other moms to become involved with on a regular basis.

Are there any groups out there with openings for that time?

Thanks so much,
E. :)

What can I do next?

I just posted this on another thread, but I am in two wonderful groups that I absolutely love! The Carrollton group is smaller, but obviously closer to home. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CarrolltonMoms/

As Kristy also mentioned Meetup.com has some good groups. I have been in the Collin County group for about a year now and made some good friends. http://newparents.meetup.com/220/ It is worth the extra drive for this group because they are so active, there is always something to do.

Both groups have babies from 0 to about 2.

we are new to Carrollton as well, and my daughter is 7 weeks old. I don't know of any playgroups, but would be willing to meet and perhaps start one up...the age difference is large right now...5 months versus almost 2 months...but they do grow fast! *smile*

Check out www.momsclub.org
You can send them an email to see if there is a chapter in your area.

E., I responded to your private msg, but I am posting again here so other moms are aware of a playgroup I am trying to get off the ground. I have a list of ladies and kids with intentions of getting a playgroup started around the 75 & 635 area (High Five Playgroup). We met once in Nov and with the holidays I've just been slow to arrange another playgroup. My son is 17 mos and the other kids ranged in age from 6 mos to 19 mos. At this time we are open to all ages. Our meetings will usually be during the week. If you are interested (or anyone else for that matter), send me a private message with your full name, child's name and age, your email address, phone numbers and part of town you live in and I'll add you to the distribution list. -C.

There are several moms groups on meetup.com that you can join. My favorite is the one called 2006 babies. It is made of of moms with babies that were all born in 2006 so perfect for your little one's age. If you have any problems finding it and signing up for it, just let me know and I will help you. We have about 70 members and have meetups several times a week. Some of our moms live in Frisco, Plano, Lewisville, Carrollton, McKinney, Dallas, Allen, etc..
