Seeking Local Secular Preschool

I've started my search for a good non-religious preschool in the Everett/Mukilteo/Mill Creek area that has an afternoon program beginning Fall 2009. I'm not interested in daycares. Any recommendations?

What can I do next?

How old is your child? We go to the co-op preschool at Edmonds Community College, www.cffcoop.org .

The afternoon class right now is Monday-Thursday 12-2:30pm but might go to three days next year. We love it there! They also have co-op in Mill Creek that are within our family of schools.

If you're not familiar with co-op you work in the classroom one day a week and there's a parent meeting once a month, plus you are either on the board or have a classroom job (art, library, laundry, etc...) This makes the tuition much cheaper than a drop-off preschool.

Let me know if you have any questions or want to come tour the school. Good luck!

I just enrolled my child in Little Stars Preschool. Might be too far for you as it is on the east side of Mill Creek on 35th Avenue.

My kids go to an excellent, private, drop-off preschool in the Fobes Hill area of Snohomish (close to Everett). It's Explorer Preschool, owned/run by Cynthia Jensen, ###-###-####. I've had two children go through her program, and #3 will start next year. I'm not sure of the age of your child, but Cynthia usually recommends her morning class (9am-11:30am) for the younger ones (3-4 years old), and the afternoon class (Noon-3pm) for the older ones (4-5 years old). I can't say enough good things about her program. She introduces letters/numbers/etc, but never pushes a child into doing something they aren't interested in or aren't ready for. She has weekly themes (e.g., Chinese New Year, Careers, Pets, etc) and a monthly field trip. The kids are constantly learning/experiencing new things, and they absolutely love it. She tries to keep the classes down to about 10 children each and has an assistant teacher so each child gets individual attention. And no, I'm not getting any $$ for my endorsement! :)

Hi S.,
I just enrolled my son in Mill Creek Co0op. Here is the link: http://www.millcreekcoop.org
They had open enrollments a couple weeks ago but you might want to contact the registrar and see if there are spots still available. It is afternoon 12-2:30 MTW for the 4/5 YO. The 2/3 and the 3/4 YO have morning classes.

Good luck!
L.

We are in the Edmonds Co-op Preschools also and love it. I know that a few of the locations offer an afternoon program but it is depending on the age.
I have also heard good things about a Noah's Ark in Mill Creek but I am not sure if they have afternoon classes.
