Seeking Interior Decorating Help in Hinsdale Area

Not sure if this would be a match, but my neighbor is in school right now for interior design and might be interested. She has done a great job with her Dutch Colonial here in town. I live in Hinsdale; she lives next door to me. We bought a fixer-upper too. The other people bidding for our house was going to tear it down, we said - No, wait, we want to live there. My husband is very handy, and it has been a work in progress. I've have been doing design/interior work on and off for the last 7 years. I don't have a degree in design it as it started off just helping a friend of a friend. I've worked on tv set designs,funishing from top to bottom model homes/condos. Also, at my disposal I have qualified people to call upon that I've worked with that are in the trade (painting, remodeling, plumbing, carpentry) should you need them. I do find the diamond in the ruff and am determined to always find the best deal! I have connections at the Merchandise Mart and other expensive retailers yet I am able to go to other markets, internet, 2nd hand stores and truly shop around for the right item at the perfect price.

In the past, I've worked on an hourly basis or a flat rate for the project. I would be happy to meet you for coffee or tea by you to introduce myself and see if we would be a good fit.

On the personal side, I'm a mom a curious & beautiful 19 month old girl Isabella. I have moved into and worked on my own fix it upper not so long ago, I know where you are at! Currently, we are living between two homes, Chicago and Palatine.

Lastly, my approach is to sit down see and truly understand what you need and don't. No matter what your style is for your new home I'm sure I can assist you! Your project seems like it would be fun and challenging. I'd be happy to give you references.

I am using Karen Fischer of Design Details right now. I just started using her but she seems to be very patient (with all of my indecisions) and will work within a budget. She does do initial consults for $200 in which she will tell you colors to paint, what type of furntiture should go where etc. Then she will come back to work with you further for additional fees.
