My daughter is allergic to milk, eggs, and sesame. I have found that it is tough to find snacks that avoid both milk and soy. Since my daughter is so allergic to milk (immediate hives if it even touches her skin), we have loved soy choices-- a lot. I'm glad that your daycare is concerned about allergies. We actually switched her day care because she had a lot of dairy incidents that I felt they didn't take seriously. Fed cheese goldfish, wrong milk in her cereal, grabbing kids milk, etc. For snacks, Crispix type cereal is good because it is corn (I don't think there is oat in it). Authentic tortilla chips (corn, oil, salt). Rice and beans. Kosher hot dogs (no dairy added). You can sub corn tortillas for breads. We eat a lot of Tyson chicken patties (no dairy) and avocados. Avocados are a good choice for healthy fat since toddlers often get fat from milk. TJ's makes soy yogurt that doesn't include any dairy and Earth Balance is a yummy alternative to butter/margarine (but I realize that you are avoiding soy...). Plenty of fruits and veggies. Rice milk. Good luck, and it does get easier now that you know what to avoid. Being prescribed and epi-pen is really scary as a new mom, but knock on wood, my daughter's allergic incidents have only been the few at daycare since she was diagnosed (Benadryl worked to calm the reaction). We have been able to keep her safe now that we know!
