Seeking Hair Salon for Kids in SE Portland or Gresham

I am looking for a recommendation for a place to take my kids to get their hair cut. We moved here from CA a few months ago and I am hoping that my fellow Mamasource moms can help me out. I live in SE Gresham, so something in SE Portland or even Gresham/Troutdale would be perfect. I have 2 year old twin boys who don't like to sit still for a haircut, but they are starting to look a little shaggy. :-)

What can I do next?

I take my kids to Rudy's Barber Shop on SE 30th and Division and my kids like it. It's not a kid only place so may not be for everyone.

I 2nd the recommendation for Luci Conner. Not only is she very talented and and has a very flexible schedule, but she comes to you, which totally negates the need to wrangle your kids in a hair salon. http://ahairbetter.4t.com/

There is a great one in Gresham called kid kutz. It is right off burnside road in the same parking lot as Arby's. It's a little spendy but they cater to the kids!!

I take my daughter (3 years old) to Kids Kuts on Burnside, just west of where it intersects with Division. I think the kid's cut is $13-14. They have suckers and various distractions to keep the kids occupied while getting their hair cut. They also have toys in the waiting area for them to play with. I recommend making an appointment because then you can get in and out much faster!

The gal that does all our hair comes to the house. Her name is Luci Conner and she's great! ###-###-####
She's also great with the elderly. She come to our place at 7:00 at night, that way we don't have to leave work early, or change the weekend schedule.
My oldest boy is very ticklish, and we have had some stylists stop part way through a haircut and refuse to finish!

There's a great place for boys on Sunnyside Rd and 122nd Ave called The Barbers or The Barbershop (I can't remember which) next to the safeway (this is probably 15 min or so south of you in the clackamas area). They specialize in boys and mens haircuts. They take walkins and usually serve popcorn while you wait. They also have some toys for toddlers, like a rocking horse, in case you have to wait and lollipops for when your all done (you can use those to bribe them into sitting still). my 3yr old boy LOVES to go there. I have twin boys too but they're bald (5 months old) so they haven't tried it out yet but I'm sure they'll love it too. We'll probably put the owners kids through college before my kids are grown:) I don't remember what it costs. Good luck!

Kids Kuts is a great place. It's located between Division and Burnside by the SkateWorld and Gresham High School. I just took my daughter there last week and they not only did a good job cutting her hair, but styled it with ribbons, curls and glitter too. The whole way home my daughter kept saying how cute she was!

There is a great place in Beaverton called Kids Castle. It is a bit of a drive, but my son loves it. Instead of chairs, the children sit in cars or other toys. They also have small televisions for dvds beside the chairs if you want. There is also a play area for before and after. It is great for nervous children.

Well I also live in Troutdale and have twin boys. We go to a really great girl at the Gresham Station Hair Masters named Bridget. Previously we had gone to another lady, and they cried everytime. Even my mom who was a hair dresser would cut their hair and one of them would cry everytime. We were amazed when we went to this new lady and the kids never cried once. Even my daughter who is almost 2 just got her first haircut and she was fine. She even has little dum dums to give out when they are done or during. She shows them exactly what she is going to do, even with the electric clippers, turns it on and puts it on her hand and shows it doesn't hurt. Then will even let them put it on their hand to show it wont hurt, just tickle. My twin boys are 3 and 1/2 now and they like going to see her.
Hope it works out for you!

Hi there

I took my son to Kids Cuts in Gresham for his first hair cut, he was 1 and the lady who cut his hair was great. She was soo quick he didn't even know what was going on and she was really patient when he wiggled around. My daughter, 4, was very nervous about having her hair cut but by the time she got out of there she had pony tails with ribbons and glitter spray and she was loving it. Everyone was so nice, plus there are toys to play with while the kids wait. But bring cash or a check cause they don't take credit cards.

Welcome to Oregon. Here is a Salon in the area you requested. It is nothing fancy...as far as some of the chidrens' place can be, but it is friendly and good.

Kuts for Kids and Adults on Hawthorne in SE Portland is great. They can cut hair even when the kids move around, they have a tv playing old cartoons for them to watch while getting their haircut and a toy room for them while they wait.

Hello. I used to take my son to Kids Kuts in Gresham but I started taking him to Little Clippers on 82nd near the Clackamas Mall. As much as we loved Anita at Kids Kuts, we needed a place that had some kind of distractions while they cut my son's hair. He does not like to sit still at all. Little Clippers just opened last year and my son loves it. Every chair (well except for one or two) is either a car, plane or train and while they are sitting in it they can watch a video or DVD of their choice. They provide you with a list of movies. (I guess you could always bring your own movie if you really wanted as well.) My son is so distracted from the car he's sitting in to the movie on the tv in front of him, half the time he doesn't even realize he's getting a haircut! And if you have to wait they have game systems with little tv's and a huge play area. We usually have a hard time leaving that place. We don't really have a specific person we go to because everyone we've had was so good with our son so we just call and make an appt for whoever is available.

I've included both place's info below...
