Hi K.,
We sort of have a similar story. I'm 33, and after 16 months of trying to conceive naturally (and a host of fertility kits, vitamins, herbs, diets, etc.) they told me we had unexplained infertility. 2 months later, I asked them to run more hormone tests, they did and discovered I had elevated FSH (11.7), which would indicate reduced ovarian reserve and/or diminished egg quality. So, I either have too few eggs, or what I have aren't good (as in old) or both. Being only 30 at the time, I couldn't believe it. Found out my mom went into premature ovulatory failure (early menopause) in her 30s. My cycle had been radically changing as well. So, we decided to go to a fertility specialist. My magic combo was Clomid, IUI, OV Watch, acupuncture and a PH balanced diet. I did all those things and 2 months later had my daughter. After her birth, and after I got my period back, my cycle seemed so different. It was the right length, not so painful, the right flow, my skin was normal/what I'd expect, not hormonal looking all the time, I was loosing weight well...and then suddenly it changed again back to my old ways. I panicked. I went back to my acupuncturist. We did acupuncture and chinese herbs for about 3 months before I started trying again. It took 4 months after that to conceive naturally. I'm only 12 weeks, but so far so good with the pregnancy! Along with the acupuncture, we also used the OV Watch again. I really think it's a great fertility tool. It tells you 6 days to be active: the four days leading up to ovulation, ovulation and the day after. I used it for 2 months each time and got pregnant on the 2nd month. I know it's scary, and frustrating. I'd say get started sooner than later if you anticipate a longer road. But, it can happen!! Often times a first pregnancy kick starts your system. One thing I learned from my first pregnancy. It really doesn't matter how they get there, as long as they get there safely and healthy. Best of luck to you!!
