Seeking Birthday Ideas

My daughter will be turning 2 in December. I would love to have a birthday party for her, but outside of daycare and family (who will be having their own party for her) she only has 2 friends in the area - the rest of the people that I would invite are all our friends who don't have kids. I want to do something fun for her, but there's no point in doing Chucky Cheese etc. if it's only 3 kids and a bunch of adults. We don't know enough people to rent a place out...
Does anyone have any ideas? I'n really really stuck for ideas. Thanks so much.

What can I do next?

Keep it small (same number of friends as the age she is turning is a great rule of thumb) and keep it close to home. At that age she is going to have the most fun at home with people she knows. For my son's second birthday we set up a messy painting area as the fun activity (I warned the parents of the other kids to dress for mess). I hired a neighbor kid to be "in charge" of the painting area in order to help set it up and clean it up. That way I could enjoy the party along with my son.

A.,
When my girls turned 2 we had their birthday parties at home and just invited family (however, family includes 4 girl cousins that are all within a year or two of each other). I also invited my closest friends but made sure to tell them I understood if they weren't too crazy about going to a 2 year olds birthday party. If your daughter has friends in the neighborhood, I'd invite them too. I'd keep it simple-not sure about your daughter but from what I recall patience is in short supply with 2 year olds making it difficult to try and have much order as far as games go.

Good luck and have fun with it.

We just took my kids to underwater World at the Mall and my 2 year old had a blast. It is kind of spendy I think for what they offer, but she really loved it. It was supposed to be for my 4 year old, but she enjoyed it so much too. Otherwise, you could try to catch a dolphin show at the Minnesota Zoo. All of my kids love that and we finally broke down and got a membership and it's paid for itself many times over. Or, try the Childrens Museum. There is so much to do for all ages! Have FUN!

I would just do something simple at home. They don't remember their 2nd birthdays and it doesn't matter to them at that age how many other kids come.As long as their is another child or two they're in heaven.

When they're in preschool/elementry school is when party's become seriously important to them.

If it's mostly adults plan a meal for adults but add some kid friendly things, at 2 they are pretty much to young for organized party games so just have a coloring table, or toys out and have a get together. If you really want maybe hire a clown or magician.

If you want to do something fun for adults and kids Grand Rios is a fun water park/hotel. The wading pool is a blast for little ones and there is tubing for the adults (big kids).
