Does anyone know about natural progesterone cream? or does anyone have experience with this type of creme. I have been experiencing breast tenderness and mood swings and an irregular period all around the same time. (I think they are all linked with my period.) My doctor took my blood and talked to me about different hormonal balancing medications such as birth control, etc. However a friend told me that she used a product that was a natural progesterone creme. I have a follow up appointment in a few weeks and when I go i would like to talk to her about this instead of birth control pills. Before I go though I would like to find out more about it so that I can decide if it is even worth asking her (my doctor) about. Thank you, T.
Thank you for all of your insight on the progesterone creams out there. I Went to the doctor this past Friday and talked with her about my symptoms and she had talked about a few things that she thought 'could' be going on. I had my blood work done and I am now just waiting for the results. If I am low on progesterone then I think I will ask her about the creams that everyone has mentioned here. I have my follow up appointment on March 25th so I will find out what I will be doing then. I forgot to mention that I do have an IUD in place (the mirena) so any cream I would be using would be in addition to the IUD (just for my hormones). The reason I was looking for information on them is because she had suggested to take a birth control pill on top of my IUD that would help with my mood swings and the rest of my symptoms, but I just didn't want to take meds on top of meds...

Thank you for all your recomendations. I went with aurbones natural progesterone proleif cream. I have only used it for two weeks and the breast tenderness has been a little better however, I havn't really noticed any change. I realize that will take a few rounds f taking it. I am going to have to start all over though because my lovely son accidently threw my pump bottle away :( Thats the pits but hey atleast I have a solution and I now what actions I am going to take in order to get rid of my syptoms

I used to take natural progesterone cream. I thought it was great--it helped regulate my periods, even gave me a little mood boost. I can't remember now, but some brands are better than others. And they say to do just progesterone--not one mixed with other things like black cohosh, etc. The higher the concentration the better. It's pretty expensive though--that's why I eventually stopped.
I have never heard of anything like that before but with all the side effects and bad stuff happening with all our prescription drugs, if an all natural solution is there, i would definately recommend trying it! a couple of people recommended arbonne's prolief cream, it does start a period... but you are really young, and i thought progesterone cream was for people experiencing menopause. i did a natural herbal birthcontrol for a while, and it did work for a while... and then i got pregnant. you might want to consider another type of birthcontrol, just so you don't get pregnant until you are ready.

I have preterm labor at 26 weeks so when I was pregnant with my fourth we decided to use a natural progesterone cream to see if it would stave off labor. Mine was prescription Crinone and stronger then you probably need. Rather then rubbing it into the skin it was a suppository kind of like a tampon. Hi, T.. I read several books on hormone balance as I entered menopause because I was determined not to take hormones like all my friends. I did use the natural progesterone cream for one year after I'd read a lot about it. I do believe it's safe if it's the "bioidentical" cream. The main thing I came away with from the books was to get my nutrition right and hormones can balance themselves. When I was in the health food store looking for a good women's vitamin, I ran into my attorney who shared the info with me about JuicePlus+ which is 17 whole fruits, vegetables and grains in capsule form. I got off the cream when I started JuicePlus+ and have had only very mild menopausal symptoms, i.e. a couple of months of hot flashes. The other info I learned was that women are stopping ovulation at younger and younger ages now because of our nutrition and the environment. I use a natural bio-identical Progesteron cream and it has helped trememdously!!! I also use a natural bio-identical estrogen cream. A pharmacy in my town compounds it for me. It is not very expensive at all. The progesteron cream was $32.oo and the Estradiol cream was $20.oo I went to my GYN seeking relief from menopausal symptoms and began by trying synthetic hormone therapy and I was just not getting the results from the pharmasutial therapy so I asked if my Dr. if he would work with me trying to get me balanced with natural bio-identical hormones and it has been such a blessing and totally changed my life. I will say that I am 30 years older that you and each woman's hormonal needs are different. The first book I started reading was From Hormone Hell to Hormone Well, by C.W. I used to work in health food stores, and got really interested in herbs for women due to lifelong irregular periods. There is good product made by Herbs, Etc. (available at Whole foods, Sun Harvest, CM, etc.), ask the workers if you can read the product info.
There is a specific estrogenic formula for days 1-14 of the menstrual cycle, called "Cycle 1 Estrotonic" , which acts as a estrogen balancer, uterine tonic, and ovulation modulator.
Then (more specifically for you),there is a product "Cycle 2 Progestonic" , which is progesterone enhancing and a menstrual cycle tonic. It is used for days 15-28 of the cycle.

Wow, I see you got all sorts of great advice! I agree with most; you should get your hormones checked to make sure that you do have an imbalance and what you're needing to do to create a balance. I am now using progesterone cream again. I used it about two years ago to help with my Estrogen dominance issues (I was on the BCP for over 20 years). The Book "What your Doctor may not tell you about Premenipause" by Cr. John Lee and V. Hopkins, has a lot of great information about hormonal imbalances- no matter what age. It also talks about the Saliva tests; different progesterine creams available on the market and how to pick one for you. If you can find a doctor that will assist you in these more natural treatments; it would be a great help. I have a hard time finding anyone in the Military Medical system that believes in alternatives so I use the progesterone cream according to the books recommendations and cycle it. T., chances are your doctor may actually know very little if anything about progesterone cream simply because it is all natural & they are more inclined to use drugs which the drug companies introduce to them and tell them you need. Hi T., I know this is after the fact but I just came across your posting while searching for something else. I've used natural progesterone cream for several years now. It's really helped with things like cramps, moods, and breast tenderness. It's extremely safe. It basically helps to balance out your other hormones. I use Source Naturals Natural Progesterone Cream. I get it at Central Market. The instructions give specific times to use it but you can vary it depending on your needs. I use mine almost every day of the month just because if I don't I can really tell the difference by how I feel. Your diet is very important also as is drinking plenty of water. Good luck!
