Hi my husband and I are planning on making our big move to Texas end of this year/early next year. We're looking to move around the Joe pool lake area so we've been considering S.Grand Prairie and Cedar Hill. Can any recommend a realtor who's experienced working with clients from out of state?

About me, I live in Cedar Hill in the Lake Ridge subdivision. My street dead-ends right into Joe Pool Lake. Very nice area!! We have lived in Cedar Hill since 1993. There is a lot of growth in our city and we are very centrally located to any place we need or want to get to.

We relocated to Texas and used Rod McDonald with GMAC Realty. He does a lot of work for the many General Motors employees who relocate every year. If you are interested in the Joe Pool lake area, look into South Grand Prairie and Southeast Mansfield, especially if you have children in school. Be sure to check out what school system the neighborhood will be in. The Mansfield school system out rates the Cedar Hill schools, for the most part. Some of south Grand Prairie is in the Mansfield school district. I live in Mansfield, very close to the Grand Prairie line.

We used Marion when we were looking for our home and he was wonderful. He only helps buyers, he does not list houses. He really looks out for his clients. He is also a structural engineer I believe. That really helped us b/c we needed to do a little remodeling b/c my MIL lives with us and she needed her our suite. Most homes in the area do not have a full suite and it was very helpful that Marion could give us advice on which floor plans would best suit us and the personal attention that he gives cannot be matched. The people whom he refers you to for purchase of the home are the best as well. They made everything very easy for us. I cannot say anything negative about our experience. Can I make another suggestion, though? I would recommend moving to the west side of Joe Pool Lake. Some parts are considered Grand Prairie and some are considered Mansfield, but both cities on that side of the lake are in the Mansfield ISD (http://www.mansfieldisd.org/schools.htm) Mansfield schools are very highly rated achools for that area. Joe Pool is a great lake. We spend almost every weekend there! Good luck with your move!
