I am seeking a pediatrician that will be supportive of my decision to delay and selectively vaccinate my daughter. We live in Fort Worth but I'm willing to drive to surrounding areas (Arlington, Mansfield). A few I have been looking at are:

Dr. Chimene Fikkert in Arlington (She seemed okay with delaying a few vaccinations but I'm not sure about selectively vaccinating...)
Dr. Mary C Brennan in Fort Worth
Dr. Sarah Matches in Fort Worth

If you know of any others or if you can give me any more info about the above mentioned doctors, I'd appreciate it! Thanks!

What can I do next?

We saw Dr. Matches when my daughter (who's now 5) was a baby. She was not very supportive of my decision not to vaccinate. She was not openly hostile or anything like telling me she wouldn't see us, but I did feel very on the spot about defending my decision and had I not been really set in my choice, I would have caved. She was nice about it though, just really pushed me.

Dr. Kari Rollins, in Fort Worth, on Forest Park
Also, re: the nurse's statement that schools require vaccinations, it's true, but what is not widely publicized is that there is a form, a waiver from the state, that is available upon request, which you can get filled out and turn in each year. I believe it includes a religious reason for refusing, as well as a philosophical one.

I go to Dr James Wheeler in Bedford. I declined the "rotovirus" vaccine at his 2 month appt b/c I was told it was relatively new. I don't want anything unless it's been tried and true for years and years! Also, it's your right as a patient to refuse any treatment - period. As a nurse, I know this for a fact. However, I also know that all schools require certain vaccines before they can enter. Good luck.

I use Dr Karen Pilgrim-King in Arlington and she has been very supportive of us using the Dr Sears alternative/delayed schedule. I think she would be okay with opting out of some vaccines, just depending which ones you are wanting to opt out of.

Dr. Stephanie Gold in Arlington was very supportive of us doing the Dr. Sears alternative schedule where they are spread out. She told me that it's our child and they wouldn't force anything on us. I would just bring my schedule in everytime and let them know which one he was due for. She works at Kids Doc on Matlock st. Hope that helps!
