You can look on www.vacationrentals.com - there are a ton of cottages available in michigan for rent.
My group of high school friends, now in our mid-40's, has finally decided that we can leave the kid shuffling responsibilities to our respective husbands and get away for a weekend. We're shooting for the first weekend of November and prefer not to venture too terribly far from metro-Detroit (so as not to spend too much of our precious getaway time driving.) We're looking for a very low key venue where we can just hang out (perhaps in our sweats all weekend :0) and NOT cook. We don't need to be pampered or entertained, we just want some together time so we can lounge and chat and relax. Does such a place exist? Obviously, a hotel suite just about anywhere would work, but I'm posting here because I seem to recall that there are some unique scrap booking retreat venues that I've read about and I believe it was here, but I can't find the posts. We have no desire to scrap book, but that may be the right type of place. If someone in this group had a cottage, that would be perfect, but no one in our group does. Any thoughts?

My family stayed there in August and I thought it would be a nice place for a girl's weekend away.
Heres a thought. Traverse city Michigan. You can stay at either a hotel or a cottage on the water. You can if you guys choose too. Go do a wine tasting thing while up there. You rent a bus and you all go to winery after winery and taste there wines. The bus I believe two years ago costed 200.00$ Now not sure. but with 4 or more girls it would be worth spliting the cost. That would be an awesoem thing. Especially if you rented the cottage. Or Rent a cottage anywhere in michigan. I know theres little cottages on most of the lakes here in michigan you can rent one for the weekend. Go to port huron theres a nice little hotel called the detoit edison on the walk of port huron. and its beautiful to actually sit on the walk and watch the water and the boats.
Try a great oasis in Detroit called "The Inn on Ferry Street" www.theinnonferrystreet.com
It may be just the place you are looking for. They have great suites, courtesy shuttle service downtown and free breakfast with waffle and eggs. The neighborhood is great and it's right around the corner from the Detroit Institute of Arts and several other museums. And they're offering some great deals on rooms right now.
Try The Hideaway of Ludington, MI - about 4 hours away. It's cute and cozy. You can walk to a Lighthouse, visit shops, go to a State Park, or stay in and watch movies all day. Great dining nearby, too!

Enjoy!
my girlfriends and i went to the inn at bay harbor for our 40th birthdays this past may. It was amazing. Now, we were pampered a bit but we had a package where you pay $555 for the room (2 shared each) and got a $555 credit at the spa. My frind had a budget of $400 for the whole weekend and she made it! They catered to every need and made us feel like queens.
I'm doing the same in 2 weeks with 4 girlfriends. We have rented a house in Saugatuck. The house is amazing and has a hot tub. There are lots of good restaurants and take out or IN places. It is costing us $210 to stay in the house for 3 nights (1050$ total rent).
We found the house on VRBO.com (the ponderosa).
May I suggest a Food and Wine girlfriends getaway in the Mayan Riviera (no cooking for you) or a perhaps a getaway in a historical Yucatan hacienda in the Mayan jungle? (peaceful and beautiful)

No great ideas here, as I still am home with the kids...BUT good for all 4 of you for taking time for yourselves! I'm just learning all about a little time for me. Have a great time! Relax and know that all of us other mommies are really jealous!
My friend and mom and I stayed at a place called "the Big House in the Little Woods" (the opposite of the L. Ingalls book :) in Shipshewannah. IT was so peaceful and I think they had some rooms that had scrapbooking areas.
