Cheryl B is half wrong. the military will accept online high school diploma's as long as the school is accredited. if it's not accredited, they wont accept it. same for a diploma from any school that's not accredited. my son is in his second year of attending CAVA - california virtual academy which is powered by K12 - they are accredited, of that i made sure before we even signed up! we're in northern california which doesnt have a ton of outings or get togethers like so cal does, but one of the best things about home schooling is you can go on your own outings. my son likes the curriculum and does find it challenging. i also belong to an online community thru yahoo groups of CAVA parents which is a great sounding board and place to gleen ideas from other parents. my son likes that he can do school whenever. can't sleep? do some school. bored? school. wants to skip school the next day? do it now and take tomorrow off! we have discovered some errors in the curriculum here and there and had some really good laughs about it. we also love doing the science experiments and taking them a step closer to mad scientist level on our own. go take a look at the yahoo groups and see if there's one for georgia cyber academy and see what the parents are saying, the groups are pretty active right now since school hasnt been going that long. another good thing about K12 is they will move her up thru the grades as she progresses, you wont have to worry about her waiting for the rest of the class to get up to speed. good luck!
