Searching for a Job at a Cat Hospital

There are cat only clinics where I have lived. I have only worked in small animal or emergency clinics. With general office experience you could possibly work as a receptionist but your time with the actual cat would be limited except for hearing a screaming cat carrier walk by.

See if you can volunteer to actually learn proper handling...they don't want somebody without experience restraining the cat. Veterinarians and technicians don't like to get bit. Maybe as a kennel attendant cleaning cages in the morning.

Call me crazy, but I'd probably start with the cat hospitals in your area!

Or what about local shelters? Veterinarian offices?

With your limited availability schedule, maybe think about volunteering at a shelter?

Well first of all you need to see if there are any cat hospitals where you live. I live in a heavily populated area and I only know of one (though there may be more.)
I think you are much more likely to find a job in a regular vet's office, animal hospital or clinic. Start calling around and see what positions are open and what the requirements are. Maybe you could start gaining experience and meeting people in the business by volunteering with a shelter or rescue group. I love animals too, good luck!!!

I've never heard of a cat hospital. I've heard of a veterinary hospital. There are tons of rescue groups across the country, some work specifically with cats, you could try that. Lots of community colleges have vet-tech certification programs, look into that to see if you can get your foot in the veterinary profession.

I don't believe there is any such profession. The closest you will be able to find is working in a vet's office, which isn't really a bad choice. You could be around all sorts of animals. Depending on whether they did only small animals or both large and small.

As others have said, I'm not sure if there are hospitals specifically for cats. If it is the hospital atmosphere you want, you will probably have to look for a general animal hospital. But there are businesses that deal with just cats - for example, Cat Nap from the Heart in LaGrange Park. If it's just that you want to be around cats, I'd look at places like that (and the others that Bobbi mentioned). Good luck!

Yes there are such things at cat hospitals!

There aren't many in the area. The ones I know of are: College Station Cat Clinic near downtown Wheaton, the Cat Hospital of Chicago, Arlington Heights Cat Clinic and a cat's only clinic in Westmont. You can google them for their phone numbers.
