My son will be in 2nd grade next year. In K and 1st grade he either brought his lunch or "we" paid for lunch. Since there is no more "we" how can I apply/qualify for reduced or free lunch? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In Denton schools you have to register for school every year a couple of weeks before school starts. On registration day, the lunch lady is there with the forms for you to fill out. You can see right then if you will qualify because it lists the income requirements on the paperwork.
At enrollment time, or at the beginning of school, ask the office for the forms--it's pretty quick and easy.
On the first day of school there will be a form, in his packet he brings ome,for free of re-duced lunches. Just fill it out and send it back the next day. :)
Do you pay through the PAYPAMS system? Go to the site LOGIN and there is a link to the application. You can do it all online and no one will ever know. They will credit the lunch account, and your child will use his number just as always. Hope this helps. If you dont use paypams, i am sure the system that yoi use has a link also.
At the beginning of the school year you will get a form to complete for free and reduced lunch. This is based on the family and the number of people in your family. You contact your school at the beginning August or check the website to see what the income levels. It is usually around the same level as pre k.
A form should have been or will be sent home via the school/district. If you have not received one, call the school and have them fax, mail, you pick up...however. It is very easy to fill-out, and they will not have know all of your business to qualify.
Go to the district lunch/food dept and apply for free or reduced meals. It goes by income, so you may qualify. You can probably even just go to the school office and request an application. They should have them there as they usually send them home with the kiddos during the first week of school. since it is the summer, you may have to wait for the first day/week of school unless the district office is open. yes, every year we get the form from whatever school our kiddo was attending in that first day paperwork that gets sent home. Just dont delay in completeing it in case they have a limited number of slots open. It is usually on colored paper and called something like Reduced Cost Menu. IF you dont get one that very first week, call the school registrar and ask to pick one up, or see if you can apply online
You might also check the school district's website and the school's website. Sometime they put the form on there.
I recently moved here but in other states they give everyone the form either at registration or on the first day of school and everyone was required to fill them out because grants depend on the ratio of economic diversity. If they do not give you a form go to the school office and ask for one.

I'm sorry to hear about your divorce.
If your son is in public school, they will send home free/reduced forms that you fill out and send back. Usually they come home the first day of school. If he doesn't bring one home, you can probably get one in the office or in the school cafeteria.

You have probably already gotten your answer, but contact your school office (when they open again after the summer). There is a very simple form to fill out for the lunch program, and the secretary or attendance clerk should be able to help you with that. K. :)

You may want to just go up to the school and ask in the office for the forms when you are enrolling your child. Things might get taken care of before school starts that way. Otherwise just have the school send the forms home with your child once school starts. I know at our school parents just have to let the office know that they need the forms.
Usually the school sends home the application the first week of school. You could call the school and ask the week before school starts.

There is a form you can fill out. When you register your child for school, ask for the form and they will tell you where to return it.
My boys are on a reduced price lunch at school and on the first day they are sent home with a sheet to fill out and return. I had to return it somewhere else but it took maybe 10 minutes max, was effective immediately and all I had to bring was a paycheck stub. It was all he needed for the whole year. You may qualify for free lunches too. It also covered breakfast if your child is there early enough.
