School - Acceptable Birthday Treats

Okay, it is weird, but my son does not like cake or cupcakes. I've always made cookies and decorated them to take to school for his birthday. Well, now he is in kindergarten and in our area, any birthday treats must come pre-packaged and sealed from a store. He happens to be in public school, but my friends who have their children in catholic school said that it is the same. So, does anyone have any recommendations for either a bakery that does custom cookies or some website where they can be ordered? I've found some websites for wedding favor cookies and baby shower cookies but nothing appropriate for a 6 year old bday at this point.

Thanks! C.

My son brings home pre-packaged birthday treats like Rice Krispy Treats, small bags of Teddy Grahams, packs or Oreos, fruit snacks, etc with a little personalized "Happy Birthday Suzie!" sticker on them.

Generally, a cookie or cupcake is not gonna make it home in O. piece in a backpack and they are not allowed to eat them at school!

any grocery store should be able to help.
If you have a SuperWalmart or Target, they could help.

I always do the store made festive holiday ones that are closest to my kid's birthday. Example, we have a brand available in VA called Lofthouse. They have packages of colored holiday cookies that are really good in 12 and 20 packs.

For daughter at daycare:
I always do the Lofthouse cookies or mini cupcakes.

For son at Public school:
Last year I sent in the mini packs of Oreos.
The year before I sent in Little Debbie individual snack cakes. 30 cupcakes tucked into a backpack just like that!
The year before I sent in bookmarks
The year before, mini packs of yogurt pretzels.
For Kinder I did the Lofthouse cookies and juice boxes as that day's snack.

What about a grocery store's decorated big birthday cookie (or one from Great American Cookie Company)? That's the same as getting a birthday cake or cupcakes from the grocery -but it's a cookie instead! Our kids do eat them at school in class when you bring it.

My oldest son is in second grade and their favorite birthday treats are fancy birthday pencils and erasers. They just love them!

Just an idea...
One year I was running short on time and had to run in the store before school to pick up some birthday treats. It was going to be a hot day and I had one of those "light bulb" moments...popsicles!
They were a HUGE hit, and after that my daughter requested them every year. It's fun to do something a little different :)
(In case you're wondering the teacher just put them in the faculty lounge freezer and then brought them out at recess.)

Cool pencils. Scented pencils (try craft stores). Interesting erasers. Shaped pencil sharpeners (ask the teacher first, in case they don't allow those in K). Personalized bookmarks -- it's so easy to write each kid's name on bookmarks from the craft store. In other words, think outside the food box....The kids will get loads of treats all year but will remember and keep using gifts that aren't food. Other parents will thank you, too.

What about the packaged, single-serve Rice Crispy treats?

Watch the bakery cookies - they don't come in a sealed container. I think you have to go to the store and get something sealed and bring them to school with the seal unbroken. That's the ONLY way the school can be sure you (or someone else) didn't "tamper" with them.
