I've always hear that you should replace it. I was in a minor crash, baby was in the seat and my insurance company reimbursed me to replace the seat. I would talk to your insurance company.

I was just involved in a car crash that crashed up the front end of my car. I'm fine and baby was NOT in the car. Is it ok to still use the carseat that was secured in the back seat? There was no damage to that side of the car and the car seat wasn't damaged in any way. I thought I've heard before you're not supposed to use a car seat after a car accident, but the baby was not in the seat. Thanks!
Thank you mamas! Just like you said, I asked our insurance if they would cover a new car seat and they said they would reimburse me! I just had to take a picture of old seat with the straps cut. I did break my hand in the accident so knowing this is one less cost is beautiful. Thanks!

You should replace it. There is a chance that the impact caused a weakening in the seat somewhere. Often insurance companies cover this expense.
You should replace it. Your carseat could hve small stress fractures that you cannot see. It is not worth it to take a chance.
I would replace it. Carseats are made to take only one impact. There may be structural damage that you cannot see. Your insurance may cover a replacement.
I would find a place locally that does car seat safety checks and have it inspected before using it again or getting rid of it. Carseats are not cheap and i have heard all the same things but for your childs safety and your piece of mind i would have it checked first before using it. It could have a hairline crack somewhere that would make it unsafe to have your child in, or it could be just fine. Good luck, and be safe.
