Rodent: Help!

Use peanutbutter in the trap. We had one and my neighbor was an exterminator this is the advice he gave us the next day the rat was in his eternal resting place.

My sister was recently dealing with mice for quite some time. She finally got a cat. If you don't mind cats or aren't allergic, maybe this would be the way to go?

Have you tried coke and put it in a small enough bowl to were they can drink it. Mice or rats can not pass gas so the keep it bottled up inside of them and it kills them.

Here's a great way to tak ecare of your problem and meet your neighbors... ask around and see if anybody has a cat you can borrow. I have lent out one of my cats several times. Other than that I don't know what to tell you other than good luck!

I've heard that peanut butter is a great bait.

I've heard you can put out some soda pop, you know like coca cola, and rats can't burp or pass gas so it kinda makes 'em blow up. Never tried it but was told it works. Was also told you could try to find his hole and stuff it with steel wool then cover it with something unchewable and they can't chew through the steel wool. Hope something works. I hate rats too! Oh yea try replacing the bacon with peanut butter. Good luck!

I am of Tsalagi (cherokee) ppls and how we remove unwanted guests is to simply ask from our hearts for them to leave. Yes you can do this and it does work. You must speak from your heart center,not your head. I had an ant come walking across my keyboard and i asked it if it was bringing me a message or was just an invader of my home and if it was an invader for it to tell all of its family that their homes are on the earth and not in the home for humans and for them to stay where they would be safe. and low and behold,I never saw them again.Rodebts and insects move in when you have food and water available for them. Check to see if these things are in metal containers as plastics or wood will not keep them out. Rodents depend on humans for survivval as they are not native to this soil but was brought over on the ships many hundreds of yrs ago. the cat also was not native to this land, so if you can get a cat that is a good mouser then it will take care of it and also this is a more balanced and healthy way to remove rodents. If you use poisonas,this can contaminate the areas surrounding it and eventually effet you either air born or through your water system. yes even if you have city water. They have more humane traps now available for home use. Check them out. Bacon is not a food that rodents like,try peanutbutter or chesse or even a deshelled peanut for they would have to work at it to get it free from the trap. Good luck........

My husband says to put a bowl of Anti-freeze and shaved or melted Chocolate of the trap. They love Chocolate. This only for Rat only. If mice a swallow lid and us peanut butter. I hope this help.

call pest control!...i know i hate to spend money on that sort of thing but there is no way i would get any rest until it is gone!...get the phone book out and see who is willing to come take care of it...today...before, heaven forbid, there are any more to come!

I get a cat, or borroow one. There is nothing like nature taking over and solving that one. It worked for us.

I had that problem when I lived in my trailer. what I did was go to the hardware store and got a "humane" trap, but I put cereal and poison in it. It's a clear "box" that once the rat goes in to eat, he can't get back out. Just make sure it's big enough to fit your pesky buddie or he'll just back up and not get stuck. I put poison in mine because I wasn't about to let it go so it could come back. But this was the only thing that worked for me. Just putting poison out sucked because after they ate the poison and it ate their brain (or whatever it did) tey would climb in my wall or in my vents and die and it would smell up the place and I won't even tell yo about trying to find them. One (ws a mouse) died in my oven around the burner by hte pilet light. I turned the oven on and......well it was gross!!

Pack rats are the worst....I feel your pain!!

How about a cat of unusual size? LOL Actually it sounds like something my dogs would like to get hold of. I would recommend a dog or cat. They'd love the entertainment and your ROUS would no longer be the alpha critter.

I have to agree with the lady that did the Sticky traps, that is the only thing that works for me, i keep my house very clean due to allergies and i live in the country and when the weather gets cold i stock up on the glue traps becuase no matter how clean the house is they want in. I would get glue traps and try them for a few days if that dont work then yes i would call the exterminator

First of all make sure that the bait that you put out is for rats b/c some baits that are just for mice rats acyually eat it as maels. You could try putting out a saucer of carbonated soda, such as pepsi, b/c they cannot pass the gas that builds up and that kills em', at least that works w/ mice.

All you need to do is to put some type of pop out - mice and rats love the sweet taste but thier bodies are made so that they cant fart - The pop is harmless to other animals such as cats and dogs but lethal to mice and rats - take it from me - we found out the hard way - we live on a farm and always have problems with mice and rats around the grain bins and in the sheds and we put out poison and our family dog got into it and several hundred dollars later the vet told us about pop vs mice and rats - the pop wins every time.

I recently had the same problem, and was told to get a bottle of 100% pure peppermint oil. Put it on cotton balls all around the area where the problem is. Mice and rats are allergic to it! I thougt they were crazy when they told me that but it works and makes your house smell great!! You can get the oil at the healthfood store or GMC.

We had the same problem in our house last year because we live right behind a big, open field. No matter what we tried, we were unable to get rid of the mice. We finally called one of those "specialty" exterminators (I think it was called "Critter Control"). They sat these poision traps outside our house that the mice eat and actually carry back outside. They were gone within a matter of days. It cost a little bit more than a regular exterminator, but it was well worth it. We have never had a problem since.

If you have cats wandering the neighborhood leave the garage door cracked to allow them access. Also if you have any friends with terrier or hound type dogs (we have dachsunds who catch rodents). I've also had luck with the sticky traps.

Try peanut butter on the mouse trap.

set out some anit-freeze...but don't let any animals pets near it..this will take care of your problem.

We moved into a very wooded area a couple of years ago, and I had never even SEEN a rodent let alone have one LIVING with us, lol...We had one in our basement. I tried several methods, but this one finally did it. (2 days of traps) so pretty quick. Find his favorite hang out spots ie. (droppings or messes). Then get the sticky pads for rats and mice.I bought mine at wal-mart. Once they step on it, they cannot get back off, and they will step into their SLOW death. THat was the way we got rid of ours!!!! We put some Peanut butter in the middle of the sticky pad trap (very small amount) at the fold to tempt him. The other snap traps he got out of both types, so this is the only one that worked for us and he was a HUGE rat and it worked the first time we tried this one. He may not fall prey to it until night time when your in bed. Good luck!

Just a reminder to be very careful when cleaning up the droppings. Rodents can carry a virus that can be transmitted to the person doing the cleaning. Check out the Centers for Disease Control website. It may seem like a lot of work, but since you are pregnant and you have a toddler it's better to be safe than sorry. Good luck.
