Robotic, "Da Vinci' Hysterectomy

Mine wasn't robotic but it was Di Vinci. I had it one year ago yesterday.

It was probably one of the best medical decisions I made!!! YAHOO!!

Here's what I experienced. I was in the hospital at 1100 on Monday AM, 7 Feb. My surgery was at 1PM. I was in recovery by 3PM (I THINK) and in a room by dinner. I was released the next day at 3PM. Not really even in the hospital for a full 24 hours. I think I was in my room for 12 hours.

My sister was here to take care of me and my family. ALL I had to do was sleep and go to the bathroom. She took care of EVERYTHING else. I didn't have to think about a schedule - NOTHING. I was up and walking around on Wednesday. Thursday I went shopping for a new stove. Friday I felt great. It was 2 weeks before I could drive. I had no complications during my surgery or recovery. I believe that is because my sister took AWESOME care of me.

It's been one year and I have NO issues. No more problems. If I had to do it over again - I would do it in a heart beat.

I had the robotic Da Vinci this past summer. I too have had two previous c-sections. Definitely easier to heal from this surgery than those since the incisions are so small. I experienced a lot of gas pains in my chest which was actually a lot worse than the actual post surgery pain, but it only lasted a few days. My biggest mistake was doing too much too quickly. You feel back to normal within a week or so but you are not fully healed for 6-12 weeks so take it easy! I was lifting my son and cleaning the house etc, I started to bleed and had to slow it down. Other than that I was so glad I did it! I had a fully hysterectomy, so I am on HRT (the patch). Didn't have any side effects from that either...I'm 35 so other than being one of my only friends done with menonpause and feeling a bit bummed about not being able to have any more children I'm really glad it had it done...no more painful periods, bleeding for months etc. Good luck to you!

my aunt had it and all of her symptoms were relieved and she was up and walking very soon after. We have that machine at my work!
