Remember the Bunnicula Books?

Anyone remember the Bunnicula kids' books from the 80's? They were about a family that has a dog and, i think, a cat. The family get a new pet, a bunny, and the other pets think it's a vampire. I LOVED those books! I even checked the first two out from the school library to re-read them when I was in high school! I remember sitting in class reading one of them during free time and the teacher laughed at me and told me I was regressing. LOL!
What other book series did you love from your childhood??

What can I do next?

I see some moms on here who read my favorites too--Nancy Drew and Madeleine L'Engle. I went to a book signing for L'Engle when I was in my 20s So excited to meet her.

Actually I just found my boxed set under my bed a couple of weekends ago. It was great. My son wasn't interested in them, but hopefully soon.

I volunteer in my DDs elem library - I still see kids checking out Bunnicula books! I also love to see them reading anything by Beverly Cleary or Judy Blume. Some kids are still reading Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys too!

YES, I bet my 8 year old would LOVE those!

She also loves Goosebumps, and anything Beverly Clearly... she gets that from me :)

I also love and still own 'The Phantom Tollbooth'... I forget the author, but that one is so great, I'll still read it.

Also, the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys series, and the Boxcar Children...

...heck, I read anything and everything, still do! ;)

I LOVED Bunnicula! I checked out the books on CD and my boys and I listened to them... not once but twice! My all time favorite book is still Charlotte's Web. I used to read Sweet Valley Twins & Sweet Valley High as well as The Babysitter's Club.

Oh, I read Nancy Drew books like they were candy. I'd burn through two a week! (both the oringinals and the newer paper back ones).
I also was a Sweet Valley Twins and Babysitter's Club book hoarder. Me and my two besties would pour over the Scholastic order forms and make sure we each ordered a differnt book so we could then trade:)

Yes! I do remember them (well I only remember one book). I swear I saw Bunnicula in the clouds one day (you know how you see random cloud images?) and freaked out (the teeth were even 'stained' orange from the sunset) with joyful childlike abandon. My husband had no idea what I was talking about. I liked the Goosebumps books for a minute before my aunt was like, hey why don't you read this and handed me a Steven King book. My sister liked Little House on the Prairie. I was an advanced reader so I pretty much skipped over to adult books and probably missed out on a lot of great stuff.

Absolutely! I loved them! "Celery Stalks At Midnight" Ha ha. Regression can be an alright thing sometimes. I say that DD gives me the opportunity to revisit my childhood.

Borrowers were another good series. Anne of Green Gables. Little House on the Prairie.

I also have the 1912 version of Dr. Doolittle. I thought it was SO MUCH BETTER than the movie that stole the name and even though I'll have to explain some of the dated language to DD when she is older, the adventure is terrific. Riding in a snail under the ocean? A farting rat has no comparison. So many good stories.

I loved the Boxcar Children. When I started reading them there was just one book. Now there are dozens and they are not nearly as good as that first book.

Our family life was chaotic and I liked the idea that children could be on their own and find ways to take care of themselves. To this day I enjoy found objects.

When I was in the 6th grade I went to live with a church family (my mom was ill). They had a whole series of Nancy Drew and I read a book each night huddled under the sheet with a flash light.

My adult daughter loves Anne of Green Gables. She has the movies and still sometimes watches them when she's ill.
