Red Spot on Daughters Face Only When Sick

My daughter is 8 years old and now for over a year, any time she develops this red spot on her cheek, she end up getting sick within a day before or after getting it. Is this common or if not, then what could be causing this spot to come every time she does get sick. She doesn't get sick that often, maybe 1-2 times a year if that. She didn't feel good yesterday, then today she comes home with this spot, prob bout the size of a nickel and always goes away with the illness.

What can I do next?

My son does that. Its his "tell"... But only when an illness reaches a certain level of seriousness.

I loooooooooove it!

I have to be fairly careful not to depend on it too much ... But for certain sure... If its there, he's *very* sick.

((He's ADHD, and as such, has sensory issues. He's been mildly sick for a week, STILL acting mildly sick, but the spot showed up... So I took him in. Raging ear infection. Which, because of his sensory issues, he didn't even feel. Although his eardrum was about to burst. If we hadn't gone in, it probably would have burst tonight. Whew! Bullet. Dodged.))

When my kids were younger sometimes they would have a spot kind of like that. It showed up with fever. I think it just had more blood vessels there and if they had fever, it just showed the increase in activity there.

Interesting! My tonsils were like that when I was young. I always knew in advance if I was getting sick. They wouldn't hurt, but I'd get a certain tingle. Never failed me.

Ok, this is going to sound weird, but i have an older friend who had severe damage to his arm from an accident. The doctors were able to take nerves & tissue from his chest and transplanted it to his arm to help regain function. Except his brain still associates the nerves with his chest (or something like that) and he literally has to emit a small cough (activate chest muscles) to activate the arm. I am dead serious. Who knows, maybe he has every last person including the nurses fooled.

Anyway, my whole point is: Perhaps there is a small area in her her face that is linked to her immune system or a lymph node? Something that got 'cross wired' durng development? Personally, I'd view it as a gift from God. You have your own personal alert system that gives you advanced notice that she will be getting sick. Wow, if only everything with children could be so predictable!!!

I used to get like that as a child.
I myself KNEW what it meant.
It never phased me.
Nor my parents.
A couple of times, when my daughter was a baby, that happened too. So I knew what and why it was.

I dunno, growing up I never thought anything of it.

I'm pretty sure it's fairly common. A couple of my kids were the same way -- only when they were sick with fever did they get it.

I doubt it's anything to be worried about.

imo
