N.K.
I like the ear ones best, they're quick and seem to be accurate. I can't think of the brand names that I've used, I think Vicks makes one.
Hi! I have several different thermometers and I don't think any of them are working correctly or they are very inaccurate. Can anyone tell me the name of one that they really like? I have the one like they use at the Dr.'s office that you run across the forehead, but it will give me several different readings that are all completely different each time I try. I need one that will work well for the whole family and one that's very quick. My 4yr old still can't stick one under his tongue correctly and cries and says it hurts. Thanks!

Love my Braun ThermoScan! Takes it in the ear in 2 seconds and the baby doesn't mind it at all. I can take three readings and they will all be identical. Its $50 but sooooo worth it IMO!
Good luck!
I have the forehead one and ours works withing 1 degree. We paid $30 for ours. Maybe you bought a dud or not a very well made one.
I've also had a hard time with the forehead scanner ones. They don't seem accurate at all! I have one that takes the temp under the arm. It seems to work the best out of the ones that I've tried. Good luck!
My best one is my forehead scanner one. But you can't buy a cheap one. Here is what works for my family, take an alchohl wipe, clean the head. From the center of the forehead, I brush it towards the ear, go around the ear and stop scanning just under the ear at the pulse. Never pick it up until then and don't rub too hard.
If you have a good brand, and it isn't scanning correctly, call the company or take it back and get another one.
Also, the subject should not be moving too much at the time. To get an accurate scan, the subject should have been stationary for at least a few minutes. Remember movement causes heat.
Love the exergen temporal thermometer (across the forehead). When I first purchased it, I wanted to make sure that it was accurate so I took my son's temperature rectally (my doctor says this is the most accurate when they are little) and then used the temporal thermometer. THe readings were almost exact. I haven't used another since. It's great because I can check his temperature in the middle of the night without waking him, it's quick, and he doesn't mind me taking his temperature. We've had great luck with ours. Good luck!
