Recommend a Web Based Scheduling Site for Volunteer Coordination

I founded and manage a grassroots effort to create libraries in our city's most underserved schools.

Our most frequent issue is managing volunteers for pick up and delivery.

Can anyone recommend a web based site where people can register, I can announce the need and people can let me know if they are available?

Thanks!

So What Happened?

To add more info:

We deliver books to different schools. I have a list of people who have volunteered to deliver books.

What is unknown: Exactly when we can drop off books and who can deliver when.

What I need to coordinate:

. How many people I have willing to drop off.
. Which of those can drop off at a certain dates (they differ) at different schools (different locations.)

Right now, I send out a general broadcast e-mail to the 10 to 14 who say than can deliver, and then do a spreadsheet on who can deliver when. I then connect with the school to arrange a delivery.

Thanks!

Facebook .. set up a group page .. all volunteers need to join the group page .. you set the privacy setting and only members will get the notices.

Our kid's school use SignUpGenius and VolunteerSignUp. Both work great and are easy to use. I've set up a volunteer sign up using SignUpGenius and really liked it.

We've used SignUpGenius and found it very easy to navigate. You can list the tasks and when they need to be done, and you can list if you need several people to do the same job. A reminder gets sent out to people on whatever schedule you choose - letting people know what they signed up for. They aren't letting YOU know if they are available, they are just signing up for the shifts or jobs they can do. This is great for you - you don't have to keep asking people.

You can get notifications every time someone signs up, and you can go in and edit as necessary if you find a job requires more or fewer people than when you first listed the task.

If some tasks remain unfilled, you can email people to highlight the critical areas.

I feel like this question might not have enough info. Do you already have a list of volunteers or your list changes every time or you want more or...?

Setting up a FB page is an easy way to do it if your volunteers are between like the ages of 30-50. The younger kids don't use it much. You can also use Sign-up Genius and/or Evite in combination with a FB page and just post links.

I use sign up genius for a lot of stuff and it's awesome! Our kids' school uses it as well and it's very user friendly! You can set up requests for things and people can sign up under each request/time slot.
