Rearview Mirrors to See Baby

I am on the quest to find the right rearview mirror attachment so I can see (at a glance) my daugher in the backseat. The first brand I bought does not fit the now popular "fat" rearview mirror (i.e. has compass, brightness adjustments, etc.). The second I've tried clips to the passenger side visor, which is totally not an "at a glance" place to look. Does anyone have any suggestions or experienced the same issue?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks so much for everyone's input. Wouldn't you know it...my husband got in the car and VOILA...in 2 seconds he came up with a solution. He clipped the little mirror to the upper right corner of my rearview mirrow. Now I can see my little girl at a glance. Problem solved.

If she is in a forward facing seat behind the driver, the mirror on the passenger's visor works great. Just unlock it from the little clip next to the rearview mirror, and then push it in toward the windshield. This is how I've always viewed my nephews when I drove them.
(If she is behind the passenger side, you can do this with the mirror on the drivers side visor.)
For a rear facing infant, you will need another mirror attached to the backseat for this to work. Unfortunately, I haven't found one that sticks properly on my car.

Is that child rear facing or forward facing? If the child is rear facing, I used a mirror from Babies R Us that attached to the back seat and had to work with it to be in just the right spot to see baby's face. It clipped or tucked into the back seat or attached to a head rest depending on how the back seat was. I liked it because I could look in my rearview and see baby even if it wasn't clear like a mirror it was good enough to see if the were awake/asleep or playing. Now that they are forward facing I have to look over my shoulder at one on the right or sit up to see in the rearview and use a lot of listening. Good luck!

Actually, I wouldn't recommend one of those mirrors. I bought one for #2 and after I bought it I heard that if you were "god for bid" in an accident the thing can shatter. I returned mine. I too, have a 9 month old and I hate that I can't see her but I have her brothers tell me what she is doing:) Just my opinion though.

I had to see my baby, it drove me nuts! I had with both my girls, the mirror that attatched to the rearseat. It is by Fisher Price, and the one I had for my youngest is "Rainforestâ„¢ Deluxe Auto Mirror with lights & music". It will attach to any seat while they are rearfacing and then I just had the one that sticks or sucks to the windshield right under my mirror. Then I just look in the small one and it shows me the big one that she is looking and listening too. It worked out great and it lights up, so they have something to look at when it is dark. (Plus it has a remote, so if she is crying you can just point it back there and turn it on for her without pulling over. Hope this helps. I am a sah mom of two girls. 3 & 15 months. The rain forest one is the one I had for my littlest one. I looked at it on line before I wrote you, it is on sale for $15.99 at there site right now. Good luck!

Eddie Bauer makes one that is sold at Sears, and Walmart sells two brands - one less expensive than the other. I used the less expensive one, I believe it's "Munchkin" brand. It clips onto the headrest of any of the back seats, I put it on the middle one so it's right in front of him and he can also see me. If I look in the rearview mirror, I have a good view of him.

I second the suction cup mirror - I love it. It looks like a smaller rear view mirror and it also extends out about a foot if you need it to. You place it on the rear window and then you can see your rear facing baby whenever you look into your car's rearview mirror. I'm pretty sure I got it at target as well.

I gave up trying to find something to see my daughter with all the gadgets! While she was rear facing I had the mirror over the seat near her and just adjusted my rear view mirror to see her better and much clearer! Now that she is forward facing I still use my mirror in the same manner, just looking directly at her now. I figure I have two side mirrors and a neck that turns so I can check for cars when changing lanes and also, straight trucks and semis do not have rear view mirros so I just won't use mine! Saved me a ton of hassle! It did take me a few times of driving to get used to it but it definately works!

Good luck finding something you are comfortable with that truly works! Blessings to you and your family!

Call your auto dealership. In the mechanics dept. they may sell what you're looking for or they can look up where to buy it from their guide.

We had the little suction cup one that's smaller than a rearview mirror but curved more to see more. Was pretty useless as it was smaller and couldn't see a whole lot. Could just see the kids were there, not facial expressions or eyes being open or closed. My husband is a dealership mechanic...recently he got for me a GREAT rearview mirror that is bigger than a regular one and I LOVE it...can see out the back like a regular rearview mirror, can see all five kids in the back, as well as blind spots out the side windows of the van all so clear. It's like a blueish tint I guess for glare resistance maybe. LOVE it. He's not here right now to ask specifics, but that's what it is and I love it. It just snaps on right over the regular rearview mirror.

We got one at Target that attaches to the window with a suction cup. We had it on the rear window when my son was rear facing and moved it to the windshield when he became forward facing. It was made by munchkin. No complaints
