my 2 yr old boy had a temp and bronchitis and all that 2 wks ago. He took antibiotics for 10 days. This afternoon he awoke w/a 102 temp. how is that even possible yet again?? anyway, he had NO symptoms, i mean, absolutely NO symptoms today, yesterday or even a few days ago. nothing as much as a cough, sneeze, sniffle, diarrhea, vomiting - NOTHING.
can y'all think of ANYTHING it could possibly be? Don't they have all their teeth by now? Does a fever just randomly happen sometimes w/no other visible or known symptoms?

thanks in advance!

So What Happened?

Took him to the doctor today b/c his temp reached 103 @ daycare & I had to go pick him up. :( Poor baby.
Anyway, doctor confirmed it was strep. Third time in three months. She said some kiddos just get strep more frequently & that's where their "sickness" goes and he'll probably have to have his tonsils removed. :( Saddens me (it's a long ways off), but honestly I'll be so glad to be rid of these frequent illnesses....and so will my boss! thanks for all the responses mommas! :)

There are a lot of childhood viral infections (like roseola, fifth disease, and others) that present with just a high fever, and then sometimes a rash after the fever goes away.

We took our son to the doctor last week with a fever and were told a virus was going around and we needed to let it run its course and treat with fluids, fever reducing medication and rest. Sure enough the fever lasted four days and broke on the fourth day. You might want to take your son in to see if he has caught a virus or relapsed.

Yes, fevers happen without other symptoms. It's was probably just a little virus that his body fought like it's supposed to.

If he doesn't have his two year molars, that could be it. My second daughter got fever higher than 101 degrees when her molars came in. Since so many bugs are going around, it could be a new sickness, so just keep an eye on it.

There is SOOOOOO much going around right now. It's one of the worst winters for flu, strep, etc. It could be anything, and it's probably nothing. I would just treat it and keep and eye out for any other symptoms.

My youngest son does this and it is usually a problem with his ears. He has multiple ear infections with no symptoms besides the high temperature. Our oldest had tubes placed in his ears and I think my youngest is headed in the same direction.
