My almost three year wears crocs to daycare every day and every morning the kids go in the sprinkler (wearing their waterproof shoes). She's developed a rash on both her feet where the croc end and her skin begins. It's not that big a deal, I've been putting some ointment on it and it doesn't seem to be getting any worse. But since crocs seem so prevelant I thought I would check and see if anyone else had a kid that reacted to the combination of sandal and water. And if so what remedy worked for you!

I know that crocs can go in the water, but I always allow them to dry out when I am done, before wearing them again. Maybe you need to do this with your daughter. The insides won't dry out real well while being worn.

It sounds to me like she might be getting athtlete's foot because the crocs don't let her feet breathe. They tend to retain a moist environment. My son has had this problem with crocs. If you aren't sure if it's an eczema/dermatitis or a fungal rash, you should probably take her to the pediatrician or dermatologist to be sure, because using the wrong kind of cream (e.g., a hydrocortisone on a fungus, or an antifungal on eczema) can sometimes seem to work at first and then turn the rash into a resistant kind of infection!
You might also want to look in to "beach shoes" -- those shoes with rubber, sneaker-like soles and nylon mesh uppers. They are designed to go into the water, so they will be fine under the sprinkler, and they tend to allow feet to breathe and don't hold onto such a moist environment as the totally rubber, non-breathing crocs.

My son (almost 4) gets a very itchy rash around his ankles and bridge of his foot when he wears crocs. We love crocs so he wears them with socks. It does not seam to irritate him when he wears socks. The rash has very small closely-concentrated red spots and drives him nuts.
My daughter has never had a problem with this, strange though. Maybe give her ped a call to see if any sort of allergies could be the cause.
My son is 3 and wears nothing all summer but his crocs- in and out of water. Actually my husband is a sales rep for crocs!
He hasn't had any rashes, but who knows- if there is a tiny crack in the plastic it could harbor bacteria or something. I'd try rubbing a bit of essential oil of peppermint into the shoe because peppermint is antibacterial and smells nice. My mother always told me how important it was to keep natural fibers against your skin and on your feet so they could breathe better and not stay sweaty- so I usually wear socks with my crocs. When I wear flip flops I sometimes do some peppermint oil to help keep my shoes and feet "fresh".
My son has the same problem. He actually has it with anything rubber when they get wet. My husband had this when he was little and they told him that he had asthma of the feet. My son gets it really bad and then itches all night. Poor thing. I use anti-itch cream on him when it is bad. I also rinse his feet as soon as he comes in. That seems to help. Good luck.
Just a thought are these real croc's? I know I got knock offs for my kids and then later found out the difference. Crocs are made of silicone and the knock offs are made of plastic. If they aren't true croc's maybe she is having a reaction to the plastic- a lot of people do. Good luck!
I actually do not know about rashes with these, but wanted to put out there a very important warning I just saw on the news about these shoes: DO NOT let your children go on escalators with these shoes. The way the shoe is made with the holes on the side make it extremely easy to be pulled into the escalator and crush the child's foot. I saw this on ABC or NBC news, don't remember which one. My children love their crocs too, but we don't wear them to the mall.
