Question About Baby Teething!

My daughter is almost 9 months old and still only has her two bottom middle teeth through. But the last month she's been teething like crazy... chewing on everything... not eating solids as much... really cranky at night... swollen gums... just wondering when babies show signs of teething, when do teeth generally pop through?

Interesting to note that both her bottom teeth came in like this... 1st tooth popped on her 6 month birthday. 2nd tooth popped at 6-1/2 months. And since then, nothing... but recently between 8 months and almost 9 months she's been showing serious signs of teething... like they will all pop at once or something!

What can I do next?

My first daughter started teething at 4 months and didn't get her first teeth until she was ten months old! I think it just depends on the child.

Every child gets thier teeth differently, my oldest was entirely consecutive and in pairs, my youngest a completely different story. there are pain relievers that you can use just for teething. one is a numbing agent that you apply to the gums, and another one is one you put under the tongue. I usually use both, then she clams down and is able to eat. You can also use frozen pops (not the kind in the thin plastic), frozen blended fruit/veggies, (uyoungest liked blended squash). Keep an eye on her ears, if she is teething bad she may develop an ear infection from the drool going back into her sinus and into her ears. Good luck!

My son (now 5) drooled for weeks before his teeth would pop through. My daughter (14 months) whines the day before and the next morning 2 teeth would be there (she has 12, they came in 2 at a time except for the last 4 ~ they all came together). My nephew just turned 1 earlier this month and he still only has 2 teeth. Your daughter's teeth will come in at their own time, another one of those "all babies are different/unique". Parenting would be so much easier (though maybe not as much fun) if everything and everyone did things the same way and developed the same. My son walked at 9 months, my daughter started walking last weekend (14 months). They keep you guessing : )

Wow, I was so happy/relieved to read this only wish it had been posted a few months ago for my situation. Our baby got her bottom two teeth at 5 months and about 5 1/2 months....then we waited.....and waited some more. It wasn't until last month that 3 out of 4 top teeth dropped all at once. Baby was surprisingly content (no more than basic fussing, Thank God!) But was noticeably more fussy with that final 4th tooth. Our doc told us back in November that she was teething and he feared all four would drop at once and it would probably make our child very sick. Her gums were very swollen and sensitive this whole time…..Well, nearly 5 months after that visit, the teeth came, she didn't get sick and now I am preparing for the next batch. Hang in there….have your frozen wash cloths/teething rings on hand and just let it ride!

It just depends. My 2nd lo has been teething like crazy for months but only has 4 teeth to show! I feel like she must be getting several teeth moving at once but nothing is popping thru. It's not often but there are times when she won't sleep for HOURS and is fussing or clawing at her neck....but no teeth. GRRRRRRRR. She got both her bottom teeth with in a day of each other and same for the 2 top teeth. Good luck

My DD's first 2 teeth had 'symptoms' for 5 months. (started at 3 months, broke at 8) Her next 2 teeth had symptoms for 1 month. (Started at 9 months, broke at 10) Now she is 11 months, and seems to be having symptoms again. I'm hoping that this will be quicker, because she is a HORRIBLE teether!

My only tip... Frozen bananas in a mesh feeder. :)

both my kids have usually taken 2-3 weeks for the teeth to pop through once they started showing major symptoms like the swollen gums, diaper rash, fussy, etc. they usually had two come in at one time also. not fun but it will pass.
