Pumping, Location, Cleaning of Machine

I'm so happy to hear you are so dedicated to breastfeeding! Great job mom!!

I think I would follow Lisa's advice and ask in the main office about a private place, or possibly an understanding professor. Maybe someone would be willing to let you borrow their personal office for a little bit so you could have a comfy place to sit. As far as cleaning goes, whenever I had to pump away from home I would rinse it off as well as I could and pack it all into a ziploc with a cold freezer pack so it wouldn't get yukky before I could get home to properly clean it. I also had 2 sets of parts, and you may be able to contact the manufacturer of your pump to get more supplies.

There is also the less fun option of getting a cigarette lighter plug adapter for your car and you could do it in there. They are available wherever tools are sold, my husband has them in all our cars for various reason. I know it's not ideal but at least it is your own space and there is less chance of someone bothering you to give up your room.

I really empathize with you- stick with it and you'll figure it out. I think the medela wipes work great- I do think they are pricey so I like the idea of cutting them in half. I always carried a crib pad with me so I could lay that out wherever (especially if I was in a bathroom) so I'd have a clean place. I know you probably have a ton to carry as it is, but could you take one of those outdoor nylon/cloth chairs that fold and you can carry in the little sleeve- that might be more comfortable than what you are sitting on now. There are also these special bra-like slings that allow you to have hands free while pumping- then if you need to multitask you could pump and eat or do homework. My sister in law had quite a drive too- so she'd use the hands free and pump while she drove (I never got that brave). Keep up the dedication- you are almost there and it is sooooo worth it!

I used the Medela wipes and they worked great. They were a bit expensive, so I cut them in half and they lasted twice as long.

Congratulations on being so dedicated to breastfeeding. When I went back to work, I was SO busy that I'd have a hard time pumping when I needed to , my milk decreased, so I gave up. Can you go to the office and explain your dilemma...there's got to be a woman in there that will be willing to help. As far as cleaning, I would use the wipes, place them in a ziploc and wash them when I got home OR hustle over to the bathroom and wash them. I'd buy an extra set of supplies to use for your second pumping instead of dealing with the cleanup in a bathroom. I'm not entirely sure I'd trust the wipes. Good luck...
