Problem with Newborn Taking Bottles

I just had my 3rd child this last Monday Aug 12 so he is on 5 days old. I am breast feeding but he started off with "chomping" so I am sore and it hurts when he latches but the rest is fine. But I started pumping extra like when he doesn't eat or after he eats but I still have an oz or two left. When I did give him a bottle with a new born nipple after eating only half oz he spit up everything!!! The breast milk was properly stored and warmed and he didn't eat anything more than normal. So I was wondering if anyone knew of any different kind of nipples or anything. I do plan to continue to breast feed but from time to time and until my nipples heal a bit I would like to use the milk I have pumped if not I will be freezing it. Any advice would be wonderful! (Also plan to meet up with a specialist on Monday (8-19) at appointment but figured I could ask other mothers before hand)

What can I do next?

The other ladies will have some ideas about bottle nipples. I want to suggest breast shields and lanolin cream to help your nipples heal.

Glad that you have an appointment lined up with a specialist! And congrats on the birth of your bundle of joy!

My babies also did better with wide-mouth bottles as compared to narrow ones. Because breastfeeding babies are used to having a wider latch, and they can mimic it better with the wide-mouth bottle.

My babies didn't care about latex or silicone or brand, as long as it was wide-mouth and not narrow.

And I agree with all the posters about lanolin, cool gel inserts, and no soap.

Try out a few different nipples and be sure you get the very lowest flow, designed for newborns. He may have gotten a much higher volume a lot faster than he does when breast feeding, filling his very teensy tummy too fast and causing the spit up.
If you haven't tried it, get some Lansinoh lanolin cream for your nipples. That was a life saver for me with my first!

The only nipple my kids would take were the small ones from the hospital and the playtex dropin nursers. These were shaped like my nipples so they didn't have too much confusion. But, they would NOT use the silicone, I had to have the latex ones, and that is the only one they would ever use. I would try several different ones with a low flow. Good luck and congrats on the new baby!

He might be gulping some air.
Try a few different nipples - the right nipple will be different for each baby so it's hard to recommend one over another.
Lanolin is great for sore nipples.

My son loved the "MAM" brand bottles/nipples.
I got it from Amazon.
It is also BPA free.
Not expensive.
Even comes in 3 packs. And is cute!
I loved these bottles and so did my son.
It also does not accumulate air bubbles in the bottle as the baby drinks.
It is also used for colicky babies.

Your son is probably spitting up because the flow is too fast. Also remember that he is only 5 days old... they don't drink 3 ounces at a time.
And per nursing, a baby will drink until they are full, AND your breasts and its output will adjust TO your baby's intake. Thus, nurse on demand.

On the other hand, yes, you need to check with the Breastfeeding Consultant.. because he may not be latching on correctly. It should not hurt, when he latches or nurses.
Use breast cream, lanolin as the other poster said.
My son would take breast or bottle. However, the more he got a bottle, the more he didn't want breast. Because bottle was easier to suckle from. It being only by gravity.
So just a head's up. Some babies may start to prefer one or the other.

Also, when showering, do NOT "rub" your nipples nor with soap. It will dry the skin up and hurt more.
Just rinse it, with water.
