I got my IUD put in almost 3 weeks ago. It didnt hurt a bit when I had it put in and I havent had any problems until a few days ago. I have sever cramping, like labor pains, and am bleeding worse than I ever have in my life. My hair if falling out so bad I am scared I am going to go bald and I keep having horrible headaches. I have gained so much weight too. Everything but the cramoing and bleeding and hair thing I can come to terms with but I dont feel right about the cramping and bleeding. I called my doctor but havent recieved a call back yet. Anyone have any suggestions or simmilar stories? I leave for vacation on Wednesday and dont want to be miserable.
THanks in advance

I had an IUD placed in April of this year and the only symptom(s) that I had was some occasional cramping and bloating-much like gas symptoms. That lasted a couple of months and I have not had that since. I have not had a cycle in the past 3 months either. I would definitely follow up with your OB/GYN regarding this. It doesn't sound normal.

Been there too! I had one put in 2002. It was really bad ,severe cramping but it went way after two weeks. After that it was great for the next 5 years. I did have hair falling out, but not too bad. So when it was time for my second one I thought , I'll do this again. Well, every "time of the month", I did not have bleeding , but SEVERE cramping like labor pains (rectal). I would have to go to my truck and stare at the brick wall like I was in labor. Anyhow, I had it taken out and have been fine ever since. I had the Minera IUD and it just didnt work for me the second time around. Although, I still would recommend it for anyone because you just never know how your body is going to react to any birth control. I had mine checked out and it was in the correct place. She gave me 800mg of Advil and that didnt do it. I seriously needed an epidural for the pain I had. Oh.and my breasts were sore all of the time and hair falling out. Not anymore since I had it taken out. Very weird....like I said it was ok the first time. Anyhow, I wish you luck, maybe give it a chance for a few more months. If not get it taken out and try something else that may work for you. Good luck!!

Have it removed asap. I had one and had constant problems with mine for several years, although the problems were not as severe as what you are describing. I have heard horror stories about them. As soon as I had mine removed I felt 100% better. Some women have no problems with an IUD and loves it, but there are many of us who can not tolerate them for 1 reason or another. Hope you get some relief soon!

Good morning, N.,
You need to remove the IUD right away and find some other form of birth control. Are all these horrible side effects worth it? Our bodies give us pain for a reason and we need to listen.
When a doctor doesn't respond, it's time to find another one.
Good luck and enjoy your vacation. Sounds like you need it! :)

Sounds like your body is having a severe reaction to the iud itself, or maybe the medicine that it has in it. (mirena has a slow release of med. in it, not all iuds do) I have a mirena and have hd for 3 yrs, no problems with barely any signs of even a cycle. If the dr has not called you back I would suggest going straight up to his office or the er. Get that thing out of you before it causes any more damage. Good luck and God bless
