My son will be starting Kindergarten in fall, 2012 and I'm wanting him to go through a year of preschool first but don't even know where to start. I need something affordable that will help get him prepared for Kindergarten. I want to stay close to home as I also have a 1-1/2 year old and don't want to be driving all over. Suggestions please!

What can I do next?

I have to two kids and live in Crystal Lake. My oldest went to Barlina House preschool (on Barlina Rd between Golf course and McHenry Ave) and he LOVED it and so did I! My younger daughter goes to Light of Christ Preschool in Algonquin (on Hanson Rd just a block off of Algonquin Rd) and she LOVES it there and I LOVE the school, too. If you are not interested in implementing any of religious factors I highly suggest Barlina House because their academic program is amazing!!! There are tons of preschools is the area so I hope more people share their experiences with you but you should act soon as registration for next year has been open for at least a month at most places...best wishes.

My daughter is going to Algonquin Preschool now (close to the corner of 62 & 31). She loves it and so do I. Their pricing is competative with other preschools in the area. I go to Light of Christ and it's a very good family oriented church, but I wanted to stay away from combining religion with school. Good luck.

I am a teacher at Joy Community Christian Children's Center - it's a WONDERFUL place :-) It is located behind the strip mall on Lakewood & Algonquin Road (by the Dairy Queen/Butcher on the Block) The pricing is very reasonable. Your son will be loved & very well prepped for kindergarten. We have curbside drop off, but you do need to come in the center for pick up. Please come schedule a visit - we'd love to show you around and have your son participate in class while you observe! 847/515-2155
